To Benefit Kids with Cancer: The Toby Keith Foundation and OK Kids Korral by Tiffany Sweeney
To many, Toby Keith was a world-renowned country artist who brought us dozens of hits, and who the world lost far too early when he died just this February following a two-year fight against stomach cancer.

A childhood cancer diagnosis quickly becomes all-consuming for a patient and their caregivers. Between navigating hospital admissions, numerous doctor's appointments, treatment options, medication side effects, and a new “normal, the focus is often predominantly aimed at managing the physical aspects of the patient's cancer journey.
But there's more to it than that, so a unique team of clinicians at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC, integrates mental health resources into pediatric oncology treatment plans to help patients find healing in mind and body.

Consider these sobering childhood cancer statistics: American Cancer Society researchers estimate that there will be close to 9,620 children in the United States under the age of 15 diagnosed with cancer in 2024. About 1,040 children under the age of 15 are expected to die from cancer in 2024.
However, ACS reports some very good news: “Cancer incidence rates in children overall have stabilized since 2015, after increasing since at least 1975.” This is likely due to the high numbers of patients participating in clinical trials and improved treatments.
