⚽ I try not to travel to my kids' games without tape and scissors. There is likely a kid who has pain. Let's not normalize pain for our children.
πŸ“£ Stay tuned for the next Growing Pains seminar. It will be available via Zoom this time. Comment "I'm in" if you want to be notified when the date comes out.

This summer I gave many seminars on injury prevention which includes education on nutrition, hydration, and many many other things. In that questions came up about Gatorade, Coke zero, and sugar in general. I wanted to circle back with all of you about the "zero sugar" products.
There is a large amount of quality evidence that shows artificial sweeteners are NOT good, increasing cardiovascular risks.
So the Gatorade Zeros, Vitamin Water Zero, etc should be replaced by a healthier alternative. You can never go wrong with good old fashioned water. Watch the sugar content and read the ingredients.
We are all always learning more and it's so hard to keep track of all the bad stuff that's created. But watch for erythritol and sucralose. My apologies for any confusion over the summer!

May is EDS month! πŸ¦“

This population is one who especially needs the one-on-one care that we provide. We get a lot of people with hEDS (hypermobile EDS) who have not succeeded with PT for a variety of reasons. EDS cannot be treated with general exercise from a cookie cutter PT. Perform for Life PT understands this diagnosis very well and can help manage symptoms long term.

Who has NOT heard of EDS?? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Comment below.

30 days ago, my husband and I decided to do the carnivore diet. Our reasons were many, but for me I wanted to see its effect on global inflammation. As a hypermobile person, the daily aches and pains are there but I've tuned them out or ignore them until they last longer than 3 weeks (not the best example, I know).
Now that we are on the other side, I learned so much about my eating habits, life, my hubby, and my body.
1. I don't always snack because I'm hungry.
2. What I'm snacking on sometimes has SO MUCH SUGAR!!
3. It's helpful to have a supportive person to do this type of elimination diet with because there will be weakness.
4. My husband can cook!
5. When I purge sugar, my body doesn't hurt. Like not at all.
6. I'm not dizzy anymore! Thanks to all the salt.... Apparently I can eat a lot more salt.

We will be checking his blood panel to determine its effect on his cholesterol levels. Stay tuned. Overall, we did this food elimination diet to help reboot things and are slowly introducing veggies and berries. Message me or comment below if you have any questions!

* These findings and experiences are genuine to me, and are not a recommendation for anyone to embark on this without consulting your doctor.

Our Approach Is Different

At Perform for Life Physical Therapy, we provide a unique approach to your therapy. We understand that a pain in one part of the body can cause dysfunction in other areas of the body. That is why we begin our evaluations with a detailed interview of the history of the injury followed by an assessment of the whole body to determine all of the components at play and how they contribute to your overall function

Physical therapy is more than just exercises. We believe in a hands-on comprehensive approach to include manual therapy, modalities, therapist guided exercises, and a custom plan of care that addresses both musculoskeletal and neuromuscular aspects of physical activities to improve your overall performance in life. Our goal is to understand your specific needs and tailor your experience to meet your goals in life.

Our physical therapist specializes in treating injuries, helping seniors and dance physical therapy. We also have a fully equipped fitness center on-site offering you turn-key services for all your physical therapy needs.

Perform for Life Physical Therapy is conveniently located in Severna Park, behind Park Plaza at 537 B&A Blvd, Suite D alongside Fare Chiropractic.
