Just in time for Halloween! 🎃
This season we’ve been having a lot of fun with Room on the Broom in some of our sessions. It’s a favorite of mine because it’s playful, a little silly, and packed with opportunities for language growth without kids even realizing they’re “working.”
We use the story to practice sequencing (“what happened first… next… last”), describing characters, and talking about friendship and helping others. The repetition in the book makes it easier for kids to join in and feel successful—especially those who benefit from hearing language patterns again and again.
The props are a big part of it too! When kids get to act out the story with the witch, the dragon, the hat, the bow, and the broom, they’re more engaged, more verbal, and more confident in telling the story themselves. And a “magic potion” cauldron? Always a win.
It’s amazing how much growth can happen when learning feels like play.
And sometimes, that’s the best kind.💙
