To all of you showing up, I see you. 🩵

A Willingness to Keep Showing Up

I step into this new year
gently, without resolutions,
with just a simple willingness,
to keep going,
to keep moving forward.

Not the bright, declarative kind of decision
that arrives with banners and promises,
but the quieter kind,
the one that asks for nothing grand.

No transformation.
Just an honest effort
to place one foot in front of the other,
without needing it to be a victory march.

To keep going isn’t strength.
It’s letting the days arrive as they are,
some heavy,
some hollow,
some unexpectedly kind.

It’s allowing grief, fatigue, memory, and love
to share the same room,
without insisting that any of them leave.

There is no list.
No reinvention.
No deadline for becoming someone new.
There is only the steady choice
to remain present,
to trust that willingness itself
is an act of grace.

So this year begins
not with resolve, but with intention:
the intention to stay present,
the intention to try again tomorrow,
the intention to simply keep showing up.

Winter Solstice

The longest night arrives,
its quiet breath sweeping over hills,
filling valleys with a velvet hush.
The stars hang heavy,
sharp as frost-bitten branches,
piercing through the endless black.
But here, in this darkness,
there is a pause, a reckoning—
a tender cradle for the weary year.
The Earth listens,
its frozen soil still and waiting,
a keeper of ancient secrets.
And yet, somewhere within,
the faintest pulse stirs,
a promise, a whisper:
That light will grow again,
the seeds will stir beneath snow’s embrace,
and what seems silent
is simply gathering strength.
Tonight, we honor the night,
its depth, its grace,
its quiet teaching
of how to hold on
and how to begin.

A nurse placed the healthy baby next to her dying twin sister... and what happened next truly revolutionized medicine. In 1995, at a Massachusetts hospital, two premature twins, Kyrie and Brielle, were fighting for their lives. Kyrie was gradually getting stronger... but her sister Brielle was growing weaker by the hour. The doctors had already prepared the family for the worst: her heart was beating erratically, her breathing was failing, and no one thought she would make it through the night. Then a nurse, following her instinct rather than the protocol of the time, decided to try something no one else dared: she placed the two babies in the same incubator, skin to skin. What happened next left the entire neonatal unit speechless. The monitors began to change... Brielle's breathing stabilized... her oxygen saturation rose... and against all odds, her little body came back to life. The nurses saw Kyrie slip his tiny arm around his sister, as if to hold her.

A small gesture.
A suspended moment.
A phenomenon that medical records couldn't yet explain.

This simple contact between two lives linked even before birth not only saved a child... but also changed the way hospitals around the world now care for premature twins.

Sometimes, the miracle isn't supernatural.
It lies in an embrace. In the warmth of a loved one.
