Not every nicker means affection, and not every vocalisation is about us.

Horses nicker for many reasons. Anticipation of food, curiosity, herd contact, learned association, or social greeting. Context matters.

But when a horse consistently offers a low, soft nicker alongside relaxed posture, soft eyes, and an approach that is not driven or demanding, that is social recognition.

It is a communication offered within their species specific language. A way of saying, I know you. I have placed you. You belong in my awareness.

As always, we read the whole horse, not just the sound.

Recognition is built through repeated, safe experiences. And when it is genuine, it feels quiet.

- The stay apparatus of the forelimb -

Have you ever wondered how horses can sleep while standing up?

Horse's have a "stay apparatus", which is a complex system of muscles, tendons and ligaments that allow the legs to lock. The stay apparatus of the forelimbs works a little differently than the stay apparatus of the hindlimb.

In the forelimb, the extensor muscles and tendons at the front are directly opposed to the flexor muscles and tendons (as well as a few ligaments) at the back of the limb.

Most of the work is done by the tendons and ligaments, which allows the horse to rest and enter light sleep with very minimal muscular effort, meaning that their legs don't get tired from standing.

Horses can only get REM sleep while lying down in lateral recombancy (flat on their side). The stay apparatus is great for dozing off, but horses still need to spend some time lying down to sleep.

Friday was all about the youngsters 🐴✨
Young horses just coming into work — or stepping up in their training — can benefit so much from regular bodywork. Just like us, they go through growth spurts and changes that can bring a little discomfort along the way.

Whether it’s adjusting to saddle fit, navigating a growth phase, or learning new movements, it’s easy for tightness to creep in. Our job is to listen to what their bodies are telling us and help keep them comfortable, confident, and feeling their best as they develop.

Looks like our four-legged friends know a good thing when they find it 🐶💤 This sweet pup curled up on the PEMF loop all on their own — because even animals recognize the comfort and benefits of good energy. While we usually focus on the horses, it’s a nice reminder that PEMF is safe, soothing, and effective for many species.

📸 Early morning sessions bring out great releases.

This big yawn happened mid-PEMF session — and we love to see it! Yawning is one of the clearest signs a horse is releasing tension and starting to relax. It means the body is responding, the nervous system is unwinding, and we’re heading in the right direction.

Whether it’s the start of the day or the start of a rehab plan, these small signs speak volumes.

🌀 PEMF helps support circulation, reduce pain and inflammation, and encourage natural healing — all while helping your horse feel their best from the inside out.

Young horses need bodywork too! 🐴✨

Even if they’re just starting under saddle, introducing bodywork early can make a huge difference.

✅ Supports proper muscle development
✅ Eases tension from growth and early training
✅ Encourages better balance, focus & relaxation
✅ Helps prevent future compensation issues

Bodywork isn’t just for rehab and working horses — it’s a smart way to support growth and training from the start.
