🚨 ATTENTION NON-ACTIVE-DUTY BENEFICIARIES 🚨

The 4th Medical Group (4 MDG) is partnering with local TRICARE® network providers this summer to ensure timely access to care during the busy PCS season.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Temporary PCM Assignment
Certain beneficiaries will temporarily receive their care from TRICARE® network providers.

2. Scheduling
Call the 4 MDG Appointment Line at 919-722-1802 to book your appointment. You may be referred to a TRICARE® network provider if appointments are unavailable.

3. Referrals Are Required
You must have a referral from the 4 MDG to be seen by a TRICARE® network provider. Visits without a referral may not be covered.
(Does not apply to urgent care or emergency department visits.)

Back to School Physicals Are Here!

Appointments are available every Friday, 30 May through 12 Sep, call the appointment line at (919) 722-1802, option 1 to schedule school and sports physicals for kids in grades K-12! Your child must be enrolled to a PCM at the 4 MDG to participate.

No appointment needed if your child had a well visit in the last 12 months—just drop off completed forms at the reception desk and we’ll call you when it’s ready.

Preventing Measles Before and After Travel:

Seasonal Allergies

Spring Pollen Season is here for North Carolina and you can see the pollen everywhere!

Pollen can trigger allergy symptoms in millions of people.

Symptoms include:
• Itching in the nose, roof of the mouth, throat, eyes
• Sneezing
• Stuffy nose (congestion)
• Runny nose (allergic rhinitis or hay fever)
• Watery eyes
• Dark circles under the eyes

The allergy season goes from February - November.
Tree pollen in the spring, grass in the summer, weeds in the fall.

Avoiding your allergy triggers is the best way
to reduce symptoms:
• Limit outdoor activities during days with high
pollen counts.
• Keep windows closed (at home or in the car) to
keep pollens out.
• Change clothes/ take a shower after coming indoors. Otherwise,
pollen in your hair may bother you all night.

Things to do:

1) If you take allergy medications for your season allergies. please start them as soon as you start having symptoms and continue throughout the allergy season that bother you.
2) If you need medication renewals or new orders. please request them now.
3) If pollen triggers your asthma be sure you are taking your allergy/asthma control medication as prescribed.

The 4th Medical Group will resume normal operations at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, 21 February 2025. We appreciate your understanding and encourage everyone to plan accordingly.

To reach the Tricare Nurse Advice Line (NAL), call 1-800-TRICARE (1-800-874-2273) and select option 1; this line is available 24/7 for general health care questions and advice from a registered nurse. The NAL provides health care advice and helps determine if a doctor visit is necessary.

Hours of Operation: Every Wednesday, 1-3 PM

No appointment necessary, check-in at the front desk of our primary care clinic.

Updated phone number to refill your prescriptions:
• DHA has rolled out a new pharmacy refill system
• Seymour Johnson has a new phone number for our pharmacy refill line: (984) 355-8583
• If you have refills on a prescription, they will transition automatically to the new system
• You can still use the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal to refill your prescriptions
• If you have questions about your refill, you can still contact a pharmacy staff member at (919) 722-1802, opt 2.

From our Newest Pediatrician, Dr. Ariella Weinstock:

I am so excited to join the Seymour Johnson community! I am moving to NC from Washington, DC, where I was a pediatric resident at Children’s National Hospital. I love caring for children of any age with a focus on family decision making with a balanced, well-rounded approach. Prior to being a pediatrician, I was a schoolteacher and I remain passionate about literacy and special education. Outside of clinic, you can find me spending time with my family, hiking, or working on my newest craft project.

The Family Health Clinic recently had a site visit from the Reach Out and Read North Carolina program, where they were found to be ‘exceeding expectations’ in providing this American Academy of Pediatrics backed literacy program to our community. This past year they delivered 1,260 books during well visits for children from birth to 5 years old, contributing to the 1.7 million books distributed to Eastern North Carolina through this program. Dr. Weinstock, our new Pediatrician, expanded our local efforts by securing donated books for older pediatric patients, now providing books up to age 11.
