Ranger3PL was founded in 1995 as a brick-and-mortar warehousing company in Seymour.

In the first decade of operation, Ranger3PL developed a strong presence within southern Indiana’s manufacturing community. In 2007, the company was acquired by Kocolene Development Corporation. With the backing of KDC’s 80-plus years in business, Ranger transformed into a dominant, asset-based third party logistics provider.

The company worked to leverage knowledgeable people, best-practice processes and industry technology to provide customers with services previously unavailable in the local market.

Today, Ranger3PL’s success can be seen in the solutions provided to the various industries it serves, including retail, transportation, government and nonprofits, food and beverage, industrial goods, consumer goods, paper and packaging, pharmaceuticals and health care, energy and infrastructure and technology.

It’s time for fall, y’all! We are beginning to see the leaves change colors, and our beloved daylight is diminishing faster with each day. Fortunately for us, pumpkin spice lattes and cozy sweaters will help keep us warm as cooler days approach.

Part 7 of our 8-part series celebrating Kocolene’s eight company philosophies is here! This month, we are celebrating “Communication”. In the business world today, we have many forms of communication: Emails, phone calls, text messages, instant messages, word of mouth, and maybe even a bulletin board in the break room. Learning the best ways to effectively utilize these different forms of communication will help any organization be successful. Here are a couple of examples:

Suzie’s daughter is doing a fundraiser, so she brings the order forms to the office to get her co-workers to contribute. What’s the more effective form of communication here? A company-wide email marked “Urgent: Candles for Sale!” or an order form hung up on the break room bulletin board?

Here’s another: Vanessa is in charge of IT and needs to perform some after-hours server maintenance that will affect users’ access to crucial business applications. Should she hang up a note on the break room bulletin board, or would an email fit this scenario a little bit better?

Communication has been described as “…the chain of understanding that integrates an organization from top to bottom, bottom to top, and from side to side.” With that “chain of understanding” throughout an integrated organization, corporate excellence is well within grasp. For this next month, please join us in practicing effective communication, and make sure the barista knows that you want your latte hot and not iced! ☕️

August is American Artist Appreciation Month. America is and has been home to many celebrated artists through history. From artists like Andy Warhol and Georgia O-Keeffe, we have seen timeless pieces that aren’t just beautiful to look at, but also reflect the artist’s emotion and professionalism for their craft.

After a short summer break from social media, Kocolene is back with part six of our eight-part series celebrating Kocolene’s eight company philosophies. This month, we are taking a look at “Professionalism”. Professionalism is defined as the skill, good judgement, and behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well.

The following excerpt is taken from our website about professionalism: Kocolene’s excellent reputation has been accomplished over many years through the tireless efforts of many great people. We hope you understand that as a team member, you now represent all of those people who have preceded you in working for Kocolene. Their efforts to create goodwill and a good reputation with our customers are now like fine crystal in your hands. We ask that you be careful and respectful in the treatment of the efforts and careers of your predecessors. Be professional in your position, and put forth the 100% effort needed 100% of the time to make Kocolene an excellent corporation.

Please join us in celebrating not only artists this month, but everyone dedicated to professionalism in their own work. 😀

Memorial Day is coming up this Monday, and it’s way more than just a day off of work! Memorial Day is a day that we honor those who have lost their lives serving in the United States military. Our nation commemorates this holiday by flying American flags, wearing red poppies in tribute, and with a special service at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

May marks part five of our eight-part series celebrating Kocolene’s eight company philosophies, and this month’s philosophy is “Leadership”. Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act toward achieving a common goal. Leaders take responsibility, work hard, maintain a sense of urgency, and care about the people around them. Leadership starts with understanding one’s own strengths and weaknesses. With this understanding, we begin to see how everyone can be a leader and a valuable part of our team.

It seems only fitting that May, the month of Memorial Day, should be when we talk about leadership. We at Kocolene have great respect for those that serve or have served in the United States military, and consider those individuals leaders of our great country. This Monday, please join us in honoring those individuals and those that gave their lives for our country and our freedom. 🇺🇸

April marks the time of year when we start seeing the flowers bloom, and the weather is warm enough to begin enjoying outdoor activities with our friends and family. Great timing too, because April is Community Service Month and Earth Month! One way that the folks at Kocolene really love to give back to the community and enjoy the outdoors is through a program called the United Way Day of Caring. This year, on May 10th, 2022, the Jackson County United Way will be kicking off their 26th annual Day of Caring event. If you’re not familiar with the event, here’s some more information from their website:

Day of Caring is Jackson County's largest day of the year of volunteering. Day of Caring brings together hundreds of volunteers from across the county to create a positive impact on nonprofits and human service providers helping our neighbors in need. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who lives or works in our community to gain a deeper understanding of local needs. This program demonstrates what amazing things people can accomplish while working together for the good of our community. April also marks part four, of our eight-part series celebrating Kocolene’s eight company philosophies. This month’s philosophy is the “51% Philosophy.” You have no doubt heard people talk about “splitting something 50-50” or “meeting you half-way.” We, at Kocolene, feel we should all commit to going more than “half-way,” more than 50% – we talk in terms of going 51% with our business contacts. Imagine the improved harmony within an organization if everybody committed themselves to doing 1% extra or overlooked 1% of petty problems or irritations when working with others. We feel this is a key ingredient to being an excellent company. We encourage you to apply this principle in your own life, whether it be giving a little bit of extra time back to your community, or putting in a little bit of extra effort to help someone out. This philosophy pays dividends! 😊

March is Women’s History Month, a month where we celebrate and recognize achievements women have made in American history. Every year, a theme is chosen by the National Women’s History Alliance, and this year’s theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” This year’s theme is set as a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during the ongoing pandemic, but also in recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history. Please join us in honoring women, not only throughout history, but also those that have played a great role in our own lives.

March makes part three of our eight-part series celebrating Kocolene’s eight company philosophies. Our philosophy this month is “Commission versus Omission.” In any leadership position, decisions will be made that prove to be wrong. We feel that these errors can be classified into two types. An error of commission happens when the decision maker analyzes a situation, draws a conclusion, and makes a decision. Although proven to be wrong in time, the leader did provide leadership and made a decision. An error of omission occurs when a leader hesitates to commit to a decision and, therefore, does nothing. Leaders that make errors of commission should be critiqued, but not criticized. We do not expect perfect leaders. We do, however, expect and want decision makers.

February is Black History Month, a time when we recognize the history and achievements of African American and black culture in the United States. Black History Month was founded in 1915, as Black History Week, chosen because it included the birthdays of both Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. We hope that you’ll join us in celebrating black history, not only in the month of February, but throughout the year.

February is also the month we celebrate Valentine’s Day, a day of flowers, chocolate, and all things heart-shaped. So, what do these February holidays have in common? Showing love for your neighbor. That brings us to part two of our eight-part “Kocolene Philosophies” series. Philosophy number two is one that you’ve probably heard before: The Golden Rule.

We define the Golden Rule like this: Treat others how you would like to be treated. It’s a simple statement with many applications. At Kocolene, we extend this philosophy to all business contacts: customers, suppliers, as well as our own team members. Please join us in showing some love for one another in 2022. No box of chocolates necessary.

Everyone likes to make resolutions for the New Year, and after 27 days, we hope that you're still on course and haven't given up on yours! For our New Year's resolution, Kocolene is going to put a strong focus on our eight company philosophies in 2022. To do that, we are going to kick off an 8-part series, each involving one of those philosophies.

January not only marks the new year, but for some it also means a fresh start, new beginnings, and hope for the future. This ties in nicely with our first company philosophy, Attitude. Attitude is a way of acting toward a person, thing, or situation. It is a state of mind; a mental and emotional outlook toward the world around you. At Kocolene, we encourage our team members to face every situation with a positive attitude.

Please join us in putting our best foot forward and welcoming 2022 with the best possible attitude! 😀

So happy we could help.
