40+ years of Community Dedication
Dave Jacobson, current owner and funeral director, started working with Millard Thorsen, the previous director and owner, while in high school helping with funerals and the ambulance business associated with the funeral home. A graduate of the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Mortuary Science Program, he gained experience working at several funeral homes and during his apprenticeship before returning to Shabbona. Upon Millard’s retirement at the end of 1975 Dave purchased the business. Since then, the funeral home has provided over forty years of personal, quality service to residents of Shabbona, Lee, Rollo and greater DeKalb County.
Dave’s very supportive wife Sue is a music teacher at the local elementary school. Their daughter Jessica teaches in France and their son John is also a funeral director practicing in Des Moines, Iowa.
