Integrative Health believes that you can combine different elements of health and healing, with the ultimate goal of putting you in the driver's seat of your care.

In a society that sometimes preaches an all-or-nothing attitude, isn't it nice to know that we can be/do/feel many things at once?

Sometimes mindfulness looks like sitting on a meditation cushion, hands on heart, in a silent room, with a candle lit, mantra ready. And sometimes, it looks like washing dishes!

Let's get brainy, shall we?

Neural pathways are comprised of neurons and connected by dendrites -- they are created in the brain when we form and enforce a habit or behavior. These pathways are strengthened by a process called “neuronal firing, " and there are certain ways we can reinforce that process, resulting in behaviors that are either deeply engrained OR fleeting. So, what factors impact neural pathways (aka sustainable habits and behaviors)? Here ya go 🤓

1. ENVIRONMENTAL🏠 - upbringing, education, religion, politics, cultural values, etc.

2. STICKINESS/CONNECTIVITY 🧠 - senses (taste, smell, visual, etc.) aka how many other receptors that habit (pathway) is connecting to in different parts of the brain. spoiler alert: the more the better!

3. POSITIVE REFRAMING 💪- think self-talk: what's the story you're telling yourself when you're looking to change something? Are you focusing on your strengths or weaknesses?

4. SMALL STEPS 👣- tiny and attainable changes ultimately lead to big and sustainable behavior change.

5. REPETITION🕑 - the more ya do something, the more it sticks!

It warms my heart to see the Mental Nourish community grow and evolve, so I thought I’d take a moment to re-introduce myself and what MN is all about!

My name is Hanna (idk if I’ve ever said that!). My husband, pup, and I recently moved from DC to Cleveland. I was raised in Cle, but have been enjoying getting to know it all over again as an adult.

I spend a lot of my time with where I serve as their Director of Relationships. If you don’t know Ceca, check it out - it’s all about honoring, recognizing, and making caregivers feel seen and engaged. 💛👩‍⚕️

When I’m not with Ceca, I help people who are struggling with burnout reclaim their health for a more balanced and purposeful life. I do this through Integrative Health and Behavior Change Coaching, mindfulness training, and connecting them with appropriate health professionals. MN was born after realizing I was suffering from major burnout, which resulted in neglected physical and mental health. I quit my job at the time and started a career in the healthcare space, and have never felt more energized in my work 🤓

I have an MA from King’s College London in Global Ethics & Human Values where I studied behavior change on a societal level. I also am trained by Duke University School of Medicine in Integrative Health Coaching, and am a certified Reiki practitioner 👐

I am a MAJOR proponent of therapy, and will often work with people to find the right therapist while we work together. Finding the right therapist is tough (insurance, pricing, figuring what type, etc!), and it can turn people off from the process entirely, so I work to make sure that doesn’t happen!

I’m a sucker for meaningful connections 🤗. So if any of this interests you, reach out and say hello. I’d love to get to know ya!

Burnout is not just experienced in the workplace - you can experience burnout in any area you’re overdoing it in, and the signs can start subtle and build up over time. 73% of Americans are experiencing some level of burnout right now, leading to all types of physical, mental, and emotional health obstacles. And while self-care is a great way to mitigate its effects (I’m looking at you, Sunday bubble bath🛁💛), we have to be willing to dive deep in the self-exploration waters to understand the root cause of what is depleting our energy and how we can reclaim our health, balance, and purpose. Because if we’re truly running on empty, all the bubbles in the world can only do so much (and I love bubbles, like a lot.)
