When Shaquille O’Neal decided to pursue his MBA from the University of Phoenix, he wanted to attend in-person classes rather than studying online. However, the university required at least 15 students to form a physical class.
Rather than settling for online learning, Shaq took matters into his own hands. He paid for 15 of his close friends to enroll with him, covering their tuition so they could all attend classes together.
His motivation came from his business experiences, where he noticed people would speak only to his lawyers or managers, not directly to him. Shaq wanted to ensure he fully understood the business world himself.
Beyond this incredible gesture, he later earned a Ph.D. in Education, proving that he's just as serious about academics as he is about basketball. His story is a powerful example of leadership, generosity, and the value of lifelong learning.
