On Monday, January 22, 2024, age 88, of Sharpsburg. Daughter of the late Anton Turnshek and Elizabeth Beatty. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Walker, her husband of 51 years. Loving mother of Dean Walker (Jennifer), and Grant Walker (Terri). Grandmother of Juliette, Annastasia, and Elizabeth Walker. Sister-in-law of the late MaryLee and Pete Duschl. Also survived by her special niece Lori Petote (Carmen), her nephew Jeff Duschl, her great nephews Dominic and Nolan Petote, her dear friend Georgene Marko, and her best friend of 80 years, Bernadine Ralph. Rita graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and Albany Medical College. She also served in the US Army as an officer and worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at Allegheny General Hospital. She was a generous, one-of-a-kind trailblazer that was loved by all who knew her. Her family extends their thanks to the VA Medical Center, John Heinz Campus for taking such good care of her and their support. John V. Sundo II, born on November 19, 1951, to the late Helen (Dembowski) Sundo and John Sundo, peacefully passed away on January 10, 2024. He is survived by his brother Mark and sister Susan (Sundo) Romea. John was a loving father to John A. Sundo and Zachary, and a proud grandfather to John A. Sundo, Jr. and Nico Sundo. He leaves behind many nephews and relatives who will cherish his memory.

John was not only a dedicated family man but also an accomplished musician. He contributed his musical talents to various bands- including "The Marcels", "Let's Be Frank", "Sterling", and "City Limits". His passion for music enriched the lives of those around him.

In addition to his musical pursuits, John found success as a general contractor and businessman. John also volunteered at homeless shelters and as a Ski Patrol.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm in Slater Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. Sharpsburg (412-782-2211) 820 Main Street, Sharpsburg, PA 15215. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at Christ The King Parish in Madonna of Jerusalem Church at 10am.

Robert B. (Bob) Brucker, age 81, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born September 30, 1942 in Etna, PA. He was the son of the late Bernard and Bernadine Brucker.

Bob was an Army veteran and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, grass cutting on his riding mower, and spending time with family and reminiscing of times gone by.

He is survived by his daughter Sandy Muehlbronner (Scott); his brother Bill Brucker (Kim); his sister Karen Schollaert (Vic/Dan); his nephew Ethan Schollaert; and his brother-in-law Harry Letters. Also survived by his grandchildren Christine Shaffer (Jon), Brandon Muehlbronner, Katelyn Dietrick (Jared), his great-grandchildren Lily, Josiah, Toby, Alaina, and Macy.

He was preceded in death by his sister Shirl Letters. He will be greatly missed and cherished forever in our hearts.

Friends received Monday, January 15, 2024, 2-8pm at Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg 820 Main St, Sharpsburg, PA 15215 (412)782-2211. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Disabled Veterans Association.

Anthony J. LaRussa, Jr. of Stanton Heights died tragically on January 4, 2024. He was 30.

Anthony LaRussa was the youngest of four siblings and a brother to everyone who knew him. Anthony was born, raised and resided in Stanton Heights. He attended St. Raphael Elementary School. He was a proud Eagle Scout of Troop 73. He was a graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, class of 2011, where he was involved in 4 years of marching band, concert band, chamber choir and the MASQUE musical theater program. He graduated cm laude with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Point Park University, class of 2015. He was an employee of the City of Pittsburgh Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections. He had a love for playing, writing and listening to music and was a highly skilled bass guitarist in local band Plasmid. Among his many talents he was proficient in guitar, keyboard, saxophone and singing. There wasn't an instrument he couldn't pick up and play with ease. He was a natural entertainer from family gatherings to punk rock shows. He brought the sound of music to life. He had a love for film, literature, travel, cooking and live entertainment. He enjoyed attending local events from Pirate games to concerts, stand-up comedy shows and found joy sharing these experiences with friends and family. He always sought out a new adventure; whether it be an afternoon hike, bike ride, a weekend camping trip or to a big city; he loved sharing these explorations with those closest to him. He had deep admiration for his family's traditions and Sicilian heritage and couldn't wait to return to Italy for another epic family vacation.

Anthony is survived by his parents, Tony and Betsy LaRussa and by the love of his life, fiancée, Hayley Rein and cat Stella.
He is also survived by siblings, Adriane, wife Mandi and their two children Giana and Gabriel; oldest brother Peter and partner, Rocky Casale; best friend and brother Steven, wife Tori and their soon to be daughter.
Also surviving are his grandmother Carolyn Schepis of Sharpsburg and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Stefano and Antonina LaRussa and Peter Schepis.

Family and friends will be received at Slater Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. Sharpsburg (412-782-2211) 820 Main Street, Sharpsburg, PA from 1-3 pm and 4-8 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Humane Animal Rescue League Pittsburgh, Boy Scouts of America (Pittsburgh Chapter) or the music/theater department at your local school.

Anna (Ierovante) D’Angelo, age 93, of Sharpsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023 surrounded by family. Anna was born on November 4, 1930 to the late Salvatore and Maria Ierovante. She was the loving wife of the late Vincent D’Angelo and beloved mother of the late Rocco J. D’Angelo, Sr. (Kim), Linda Hilinski (Mike) and Anita D’Angelo; loving grandmother of Rocco J. D’Angelo, Jr. (Marlene) and Marissa Hilinski and sweet great grandma (GGD) of Vincenzo D’Angelo. Anna was a beloved sister of the late Rose Williams (the late Russell), Armenia Ierovante, the late Domenic Ierovante (the late Dolores), and Josephine Caldone (John) and special aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. Anna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family. She was a devout Catholic and a life-long member of Madonna of Jerusalem Church (Sharpsburg, PA) of Christ the King Parish. Dennis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Roberta; daughter Elaine Shaffer (Clayton); sister Judi Dietz (Jeff); and nephews Brad, Derrin, and Collin Dietz. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary (Tomko) Iurlano. A 1968 graduate of Fox Chapel High School, Dennis attended Point Park University where he majored in accounting. Dennis loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies also included playing 500 bid, classic cars, listening to oldies music (especially The Drifters), and enjoying good food. Lizzie was born in Pittsburgh, to the late Paul and Amelia Guidish. Surviving are her siblings, Barb Bukovac of Shaler, Ray Guidish (Evy) of Hermitage, Carole Guidish of Sewickley, Jacquie Finch of Reno, Nevada, Bill Guidish (Karen) of Etna, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lizzie was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby, Paul, and Jim, and her sisters Adele Butler and Marie Perry.

Lizzie will be remembered as a person that was always on the go. From the many years that she played softball for the East End Debs, to her countless rounds of golf with friends, to her time spent birdwatching in North Park. Lizzie's nieces and nephews will always cherish the memories of time spent with her, especially their drives in her yellow Volkswagen Bug.

In keeping with Lizzie's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial party is being planned to be held in the future.

Of Shaler Twp., 67, passed away on November 11. A lifelong Pittsburgher, Dave was born on February 21, 1956 to the late James, Sr. and Millie (Thiel) Pavlick. Dave was deeply adored by his sister and brothers: James (Carole), Gail (Gary) Weismann, Gary (Lori), and Steven (Denise). His lightheartedness shined particularly bright as “Uncle Dave” to Holly (Fiancé Jayson), Jennifer (Doug) Cordeiro, Lindsay Weismann, Lisa (Jon) Szuchy, Stephanie (Ross) Dudgeon, Stacey Weismann, Mandee (Erik) Rusin, Chelsey (Kevin) Kennedy, Dan (Brianna), Madison, and Marlea. He was cherished as Godfather to Lisa and Marlea, and took the bestowed honor seriously. Never ever missing an opportunity to make someone laugh, Dave may be most remembered for his grand sense of humor. Dave took great pride in his work at Schindler Elevator Corporation, having retired in 2018. His tender heart will be profoundly missed.
