Science lesson for today:
It’s not just 1 thing that will make you healthier - it’s a combination of many things working together…So the more you do to optimize internal and external balance the better your overall health will be.
Although healthy, things like baking soda, alkaline water, or an alkaline diet don’t technically make the body more alkaline. What they really do is help the body maintain balance more efficiently. (read that again - for the health guru’s that argue about the significance of alkaline water)
1️⃣ Most people today live with chronic inflammation or gut imbalance, which sets the stage for disease. Age, stress, diet, toxins, and environment all contribute.
2️⃣ The body constantly works to stay in homeostasis — a steady state where blood pH remains around 7.35–7.4, which is essential for every cell to function properly.
3️⃣ Eating slightly alkaline foods and drinking mineral-rich water doesn’t change your blood pH — but it lightens the body’s workload. Your stomach, pancreas, kidneys, and liver don’t have to work as hard to neutralize acidic byproducts from processed foods, sugar, or stress.
4️⃣ Think of it this way: your stomach acid is like a disinfectant, breaking down and sterilizing everything that enters your body. Then your pancreas, kidneys, liver, and skin act like the sanitizing team — using, filtering, and eliminating what’s not needed to keep your internal environment clean and balanced.
5️⃣ Your organs also produce bicarbonate, the body’s natural buffer, to keep pH steady. When you support your system with alkaline foods, minerals, and hydration, it helps these organs produce and regulate bicarbonate more efficiently — keeping everything in balance.
6️⃣ Hydrogen water adds another layer of support. It’s rich in molecular hydrogen (H₂), a selective antioxidant that neutralizes only the harmful free radicals, supports mitochondrial energy (ATP), and reduces inflammation without disturbing healthy cellular signaling.
7️⃣ So, while alkaline or hydrogen-rich choices don’t “alkalize” the body, they support homeostasis — helping your organs, skin, and immune system function more smoothly with better oxygenation, energy, and less inflammation.
NOTE:
Carbon dioxide is the “acid side” of your body’s pH balance, while bicarbonate is the “base.” Your lungs release CO₂ (acidic waste) every time you exhale, and your kidneys and pancreas make bicarbonate to neutralize what’s left — keeping your blood perfectly balanced. When breathing, hydration, and mineral intake are optimal, your body naturally stays in healthy homeostasis with less inflammation and better oxygen flow.
