✨ Did You Know? ✨

Joanna Elliott, APRN, Wendy Crotts, APRN, and Shandy Baggs, APRN all earned their Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Graceland University!

But here’s a special connection that makes this even more meaningful…

While Shandy was finishing up her own schooling, she was helping Wendy deliver baby #3. During that time, she encouraged Wendy to consider Graceland University for her NP journey. That conversation became the driving force behind Wendy pursuing her Nurse Practitioner degree.

From supporting each other in life’s biggest moments to sharing the same educational foundation, their story reflects what makes Newman Memorial Hospital and Newman Healthcare Associates so strong; teamwork, mentorship, and a commitment to growing together.

That’s the power of connection.
That’s the strength of the Newman team. 💙💚

Nothing brings people together quite like a
good game of Skip-Bo! Our amazing staff had the best time playing cards with swing bed patient Jim Lemaster and let’s just say, the competition was friendly but fierce! 😊

Jim isn’t just any patient. He and his wife founded The Hope Center in Woodward many years ago, making a lasting impact on so many lives in our community. 💙 What an incredible legacy of compassion and service!

Now it’s our turn to serve him. We are so thankful Jim chose to join us for his care journey, and we’re honored to walk alongside him every step of the way.

Around here, healing includes a little laughter, connection, and maybe a few Skip-Bo “Skip” cards too! 😉

Newman was proud to welcome Jennifer Stelter, Client Relationship Manager; Joanne Gallery, Senior Project Manager with Mayo Clinic; and Andy Fosmire, Consultant, for the launch of our Advanced Cardiac Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Holter Monitors!

This innovative technology allows us to provide enhanced cardiac monitoring and improved patient care right here at home.

“We are grateful for this partnership and the shared vision behind it, alongside Mayo Clinic’s Bold. Forward. Unbound. approach to the future of healthcare. At Newman Memorial Hospital, our mission has always been simple but ambitious: keep high-quality care local while ensuring our patients benefit from world-class clinical insight.

This collaboration reflects what rural healthcare needs right now; trusted partners, thoughtful application of technology, and a relentless focus on continuity of care. By pairing near real-time, actionable data with a forward-looking, unbound approach to care delivery, we are equipping our providers with tools that support earlier intervention, stronger coordination, and better outcomes, all while allowing patients to remain close to home and the support systems that matter most.

We are excited about what we can build together and deeply value the shared commitment to service, trust, and patient-centered innovation. This is how sustainable rural healthcare moves forward.”

We have some incredible people to celebrate! 💙🔬

Please join us in giving a BIG, warm welcome to Edilberto (Bert), Giann, and Cherry (who works nights!) from the Philippines, who are serving our hospital in the laboratory.

These three are truly some of the smartest people to ever walk these halls, and just as importantly, some of the kindest. Their dedication, skill, and heart for patient care make a difference every single day.

✨ Bert brings 12 years of hospital laboratory experience from Saudi Arabia.
✨ Giann spent the past 8 years working as a lab tech in the Philippines. We are so excited for him as he prepares to marry his high school sweetheart this November back home!
✨ Cherry, our night shift hero, plays a vital role behind the scenes and keeps things running smoothly while most of us are asleep.

When asked what they have loved most about Newman so far, their answer was simple. The kindness of the community and the food. Biscuits and gravy have definitely made the favorites list!

They have traveled far from home to serve our patients and community, and we are incredibly thankful they chose our little hospital. Their expertise strengthens our lab and their hearts strengthen our team.

If you see them, please help us make them feel at home and let them know how grateful we are to have them here! 💙👏

Healing doesn’t just happen in an operating room. It happens in the quiet moments. In the encouragement from a nurse. In the steady progress of physical therapy. In the comfort of being close to home. 🤍

Our Swing Bed Program is designed for exactly that, giving patients the time, support, and multidisciplinary care they need to fully recover before heading home. It is where hospital level care meets the warmth of community.

As CEO Tom Vasko shared:

“What nursing school taught me, above all else, is that healing is not confined to medications, procedures, or operating rooms. True healing often begins in the spaces people live, work, and lean on one another. It is shaped by environment, trust, and the hands of a community coming together through a multidisciplinary approach. When medicine and nursing move in alignment, care becomes more than treatment. It becomes transformational. That is the work we are doing at Newman, as we redefine what care can look like in Northwest Oklahoma.”

Cheryl Lucas’ story is a beautiful reflection of this mission, compassionate care, personalized rehabilitation, and a team walking alongside her every step of the way.

At Newman, healing is personal. And here at home in Northwest Oklahoma, it is transformational. ✨
