Even if your intentions are good and you want to help, always ask before giving advice and take into consideration their lived experiences. Often good intentioned but not asked for advice can and will cause more harm than good.

If they don’t want advice consider just being present with them. Also then what they do need, and how you can be most helpful.

Such an impactful event. We know there are spillover effects onto the families of first responders, as well, due to the nature of the work. 10/10 recommend for any adult child (18+) of a first responder!
