The past few years we have partnered with Hocker Grove Middle School in Shawnee KS and the classes of teacher Hannah Voyles, Career Specialist / Jobs for America’s Graduates – Kansas. The students come to interact, play games and build relationships with our residents. The past two days we’ve had amazing groups of students who connected very well with our residents. These students are blessed with a teacher who understands and values inspiring her class to bridge the gap of generations through connection and service while exposing them to careers in the community.

Well done, Hannah, it’s a blessing to partner with you. Together we are enriching the lives of both your students & our residents!

March is Social Work Month, a time to recognize the individuals who help guide families through some of life’s most difficult transitions.

Our social services team supports families by answering questions, coordinating care, and helping ensure residents’ needs are met physically and emotionally. Their work brings comfort and clarity when families need it most.

So many times there is negative talk about long term care and how residents are forgotten. At Sharon Lane that is not our norm. In fact it’s quite the opposite. Families of our residents & staff; the community; Bruce, a violin player; Lee Birdwell, music; Dave & Debbie, music sing a long; Pastor Hassan leading weekly church services; Amy & Alyssa do manicures; Hocker Grove Middle School, Phoenix Hospice; The Noteables singing group; Homeschool families; Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Merriam; Johnson County Christmas Bureau and many more throughout the year donate gifts, their time, their talents, and give from their hearts. They are attentive and engaging with our residents. They volunteer to help with parties, donate supplies and build relationships. Thank you to all those who give so freely from the heart so that at Sharon Lane no one does life alone.
