The mission of WillowTree Supports is to assist and support people with developmental disabilities; to help those individuals gain access and membership into community groups in order to develop lasting relationships based on common interests, needs, strengths and capabilities. WillowTree Supports provides needed assistance to individuals in ways that support and strengthen community competencies through the following services:

WillowTree Supports seeks nothing less for individuals with a disability than a life surrounded by the richness and diversity of community. A powerful life that gains its joy from the creativity and connectedness that comes when we join as citizens to create an inclusive world. We desire to help all individuals become active and engaged citizens. We like how Community Living Ontario defines citizenship. “Citizenship is about every individual's right to embrace and fully participate in a community that values diversity and strives for the inclusion of all its members.”

For people with a developmental disability, it’s also about experiencing the same human rights, responsibilities, and opportunities as others in society. It means that all people have the right to participate and contribute to society through the many stages of life. It also means living a life beyond the 'service system', a life in community, where people can experience self-determination through their own choices. Citizenship also means feeling like you belong to a community, and in that community, you are respected for your abilities, inherent talents and unique contributions to that community's ultimate success.

Happy Thanksgiving from the WillowTree Family! This week, we celebrated with some Thanksgiving crafts which included making paper turkey hats. We also had a wonderful meal prepared by our kitchen staff and it was the first time we were able to have lunch together with everyone in the same room! We are very thankful for having spent this time together and we wish you a happy holiday!
