It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Mark Smith.

Mark dedicated more than 36 years to the Amos Family Funeral Home, faithfully serving thousands of families with compassion and care. He began his career in 1984, retiring at the end of 2020 to spend more time with his wife, Anne—who also served alongside us as part of the Amos Family team—and their family. Mark and Anne created our Amos Family Pet Companion Crematory, where we have served thousands of families with the loss of their beloved pets.

Beyond his professional service, Mark was a mentor to many students and funeral directors, a steady leader, and a source of kindness, humor, and friendship to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all of us here at Amos.

Today, we celebrate and congratulate the retirement of our longtime Crematory Operator—and our dear friend—Tom Ohmes.

Tom joined the Amos Family in April of 2005. In his two decades with us, he compassionately oversaw thousands of cremations. His dedication, mentorship, and unwavering respect for every individual in his care have left a lasting impact on our team and the families we serve.

It’s hard to believe how quickly the years have flown by. We will miss Tom’s steady presence and dedication—but no one has earned their retirement more than he has!

Thank you, Tom. Your legacy here is one of compassion, integrity, and heart.
