Keeping it Clean

Stories are what link yesteryear to the present and propel us into the future. They keep our paths somewhat linear in nature, making it easier to see where we’re headed by talking about where we’ve been.

So, where does CleanPower want to head? Well, our president, Mike Lafferty, has a goal of making CleanPower one of Wisconsin’s Best Places to Work. That’s the plotline for our story. Are we there yet? Nope. Are we perfect? Nope. Is any company perfect? Nope.

There are a lot of companies out there. Right now, all of them are looking for you to come and work for them, and we’re no different in that trait. Some companies claim they’re different because they have better people. That’s not true though, and we know that you all know this too. If it were true, no companies would be competing for each and every one of you. Yet here we all are, trying to convince you all to come and work for us.

No, we’re not different because we have better people. All people are amazing no matter the company they work for. No, we’re not different because we have it all figured out. No, we’re not different because we feel we’re perfect. Do you want to know why we’re different?

We’re different because we recognize we’re all different and that nobody is perfect. We’re different because we know things go wrong sometimes. We’re different because when they do go wrong...we care.

You know what? Your cleaning company is going to miss some garbages once in a while because we’re human. But when we miss a garbage, we care. We care enough to have the right conversations with the right people to put measures into place to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

You know what? You as an employee aren’t perfect either. We know that. We have disciplinary procedures like every other company does. But the difference is when someone makes a mistake, we care enough about our people to try and get them to improve. We use our processes to actually improve people, not to punish or berate them. CleanPower wants to set people up for success because we know full well that they will not likely work for us forever. We want to give you back to the world better than when you came to us. Maybe that means you just end up in a better financial situation. Maybe that means you learned some responsibility. Maybe it means you became a leader whilst working for us.
