Recently, after learning a coworker had been diagnosed with a medical condition, Roger respectfully pulled them aside to share words of encouragement and support during a busy morning. The gesture was handled with compassion and sincerity, reflecting the empathy and genuine care he brings to our team every day.

Exciting news! Yesterday marked Dr. Michael Higginbotham’s first day of clinic and first official surgery at Helen Keller Hospital. 👏 We’re grateful to welcome not only a talented new general surgeon, but also the family who supports his work behind the scenes. 💚

We are incredibly thankful for the many HKH team members who stepped up during this weekend’s winter weather to ensure care continued for our community. Among them was our ER nurse, Shelby, whose creative commute by razor scooter was highlighted by our local news outlets.

While her story stands out, it represents the heart of our entire team and the commitment shared by so many across our hospital. 💚❄️🛴

When winter weather hits, officials urge people to stay off the roads, but for essential workers, staying home is not always an option.

Please help us congratulate Rebecca Spencer, RN (ICU), and Kristin Wise, RN (2C), our Q4 Daisy Award winners at HKH! 🌼💛 Both were nominated by their patients for the compassionate care they provided during a difficult time.

Rebecca is known for always going above and beyond— even finding a way to surprise a patient with a midnight eggs-and-bacon request, bringing comfort when it was needed most. Kristin cared for a patient during an emotional recovery following surgery, taking time to sit at the bedside, listen, and explain things in a way that felt personal and reassuring. Her patient shared how important it was to receive that kind of care close to home.
