If you experience discomfort, swelling and varicose veins in your legs, you may be suffering from superficial venous reflux disease. Approximately 25 million people in the United States suffer from venous reflux. Traditionally patients diagnosed with venous reflux would undergo varicose vein stripping surgery. Now, patients can be treated with the endovenous ablation of the abnormal vein— a minimally invasive alternative to painful vein stripping surgery. This can be done using modern thermal ablation techniques with a RadioFrequency ( or microwave ) catheter OR the newest Venaseal technique which utilizes a medical adhesive to painlessly close the vein. We never use the painful laser techniques which often require heavy intravenous sedation during the procedure as well as pain medications afterwards. Our patients require NEITHER!
Our doctors have been performing the modern office based vein treatment techniques for almost fifteen years and are some of the most experienced in the area. In addition to being Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and Fellows of American College of Surgery, they are also certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.
We use sclerotherapy to correct unwanted and unsightly veins both large and small in size. From the small purple veins to the largest ropey varicose veins, sclerotherapy is a procedure in which a sclerosing solution is directly injected into the vein with a very small needle followed by compression at the site of injection. This causes the vein to close and the body naturally removes it.
Ambulatory phlebectomy is a method of removing varicose veins on the surface of the legs. This procedure is sometimes used for medium to large vericose veins. It is done in the office under local anesthesia. This is done after large vein or truncal reflux has been corrected by endovenous radiofrequency ablation.
