Founded by Dr. Bill Warnock, the first licensed Naturopathic Physician in Vermont, CCNM combines the best of modern medicine with the wisdom of traditional healing methods. Our patients are offered the most up to date medical evaluations and treatment, as well as scientifically studied, natural holistic options individually designed to improve health and prevent disease. We treat everyone, from people who are in good physical condition and want to stay proactive about their health, to patients suffering from acute and chronic conditions. We offer comprehensive women’s health services, hCG weight loss treatment, and nutritional IV therapy. Champlain Center for Natural Medicine uses both conventional and alternative systems of health care. When necessary, we can and do prescribe pharmaceutical drugs. We believe in a holistic approach that focuses on long term health benefits -- not just treating the symptoms. Our services are covered by all Vermont insurance companies, including Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, MVP, CBA and Cigna. We are now accepting new primary care patients! We are a family practice, committed to creating an environment where your health care needs are accessible, family-centered, continuous, comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally competent. We are concerned about the complete range of health care needs of our patients to ensure whole person care including preventative care measures, chronic condition management and behavioral health related issues. We view ourselves as care partners with you working to develop comprehensive care plans, promote self management and community based support of your health care needs. We practice our care using evidence based guidelines and are happy to share them with you. It’s that time of year! Hot Cocoa season. Enjoy this delicious and healthy recipe that is packed with antioxidants. The main ingredient and star of the show here is a good quality cacao. Cacao has numerous health properties:

Rich in antioxidants: Cacao has flavonoids (like epicatechin and catechin), which combat oxidative stress and reduce inflammation.

Heart health: Flavonoids improve blood flow, lower blood pressure, and raise HDL (“good”) cholesterol.

Brain boost: Increases cerebral blood flow, enhances cognitive function, and may protect against age-related decline.

Blood sugar control: Improves insulin sensitivity and may lower diabetes risk despite natural sweetness.

Mineral powerhouse: High in magnesium, iron, potassium, and copper.

Mood enhancer: Contains theobromine (mild stimulant), phenylethylamine (feel-good compound), and anandamide (“bliss molecule”).

Ingredients:
1 tbsp cacao (or more to taste)
1 cup milk of choice
1 tbsp maple syrup (or to taste)
Pinch of sea salt

Add all the ingredients to a small pot or saucepan and gently heat until it starts to simmer. Mix VERY WELL and enjoy!

Reminder for our current and prospective patients!

The only 2 blood tests/labs that are covered by insurance in its entirety are the lipid panel (cholesterol check) and hemoglobin A1c (average glucose over the past 3 months).*

If you would like additional indicators to be checked in preparation for your annual visit, please be sure to follow up with your provider to discuss options. **

*PSA screening can also be covered for men over the age of 50, but age limit can vary depending on level of risk.

**Always double check with your insurance to have a better understanding of what labs and tests will be covered and when you have to first reach your deductible.
