Johnson Chiropractic Neurology & Nutrition

Johnson Chiropractic Neurology & Nutrition I help people with chronic health challenges reclaim their lives without drugs or surgery via a multi-modal natural healthcare approach. Dr. Karl R.O.S.

I offer a caring and compassionate, yet no-nonsense approach to core level healing of the underlying malfunctions that lead to poor health. join me on your journey to healing. In 1983, Dr. Karl R.O.S. Johnson, a chiropractor and clinical nutritionist in Shelby Township, MI, followed his heart into the health field. Now hundreds of chronic condition patients in southeastern, Michigan have the relie

f and quality of life that most chronically ill patients hope and wish for, but seldom get. Unlike some who just ‘wander’ into the health profession and make a place for themselves, Dr. Johnson recalls how he was ‘drawn’ into the health field, it was his calling, his destiny. Before starting down his formal education path, Dr. Johnson had met many people and formed great relationships with individuals who he felt had the answers to his questions. Questions about health and healing, and why did the current “health care” system ignore the foundations of health. Time has really flown since Dr. Johnson graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1983. He has met many wonderful people and has been blessed with a busy practice and a wonderful team of assistants. Now more than ever he finds it exciting to be a doctor of chiropractic and a clinical nutritionist. For years there has been a resistance to natural healing methods by others who were not yet enlightened by its benefits. Acceptance of methods complimentary to traditional medical care is at an all time high and as a result more and more people are seeking alternatives to drugs and surgery. His passion for helping people and learning about the principles that underlie the foundations for health is at an all time high. Patients with chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, vertigo and other balance disorders, peripheral neuropathy, migraines, hypothyroidism, severe back, leg, neck and arm pain, ADD, ADHD, Autism, autoimmune disorders, etc.) from all over southeast Michigan flock to the Johnson Chiropractic Neurology & Nutrition because of Dr. Johnson’s whole-person, patient-centered, functional neurological, structural and metabolic approach. Most patients know intuitively that there must be more to helping their chronic condition besides simply trying to patch it up with drugs, and with Dr. Johnson they get that complete functional approach that creates the vitality and quality of life they deserve. Johnson graduated Summa Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. and was voted to serve as the Vice President of the Pi Tau Delta Delta (an international chiropractic honorary society, open to the top 15 percent of the graduating class who have maintained a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have never withdrawn from a class or have never received less than a grade 3 for any quality grade while at Palmer. Invitations to Pi Tau Delta are issued during the final academic term.) At Palmer College of Chiropractic I began my intense study of neurology that I knew would allow me to serve my patients at a high level. Chiropractic Neurology is the newest, state of the art diagnostic and treatment technique. It brings together research findings from the fields of psychology, neuropsychiatry, neurology, neurophysiology, and nutrition — and used this knowledge to bring hope to the sick, unhappy, and hurting of all ages. Dr. Johnson states, "As a chiropractic physician, I strive to provide the finest care possible and provide an optimum environment for healing. Using the latest diagnostic tests to find the cause of your pain, suffering or ill health, it is possible to design a plan of care to get you back to your favorite activities fast. In my practice, you’ll discover a complete array of services for your entire family. Through a great number of continuing education courses, I have been very careful to master the newest and most effective techniques in chiropractic rehabilitative and wellness services as well as nutritional therapy. The procedures used in my practice are well suited for all ages from infancy to the elderly. Chiropractic is a quickly advancing field and I believe it takes dedication, diligence and just plain hard work to keep up. But I feel I must for the good of my patients." My personal free time is spent training for distance charitable cycling events (such as the MS Bike), a pursuit I picked up after one of my patients encouraged me to participate in my first 200 mile bike ride over two decades ago. I have completed 26 such rides on the western side of Michigan and even participated in a team triathalon where my team came in first place for the age group. I am the proud parent of 3 young adults, and am happily married to my wife Sandra. I also love to learn and study about health, the human body, success principles, and science. I enjoy gardening, healthy eating, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, photography and sight seeing.

City Living Raises Asthma Risk. 🌇🌬️

City life is full of energy and opportunity, but it can quietly impact your health too. A major meta-analysis of 14 studies and nearly 350,000 people across seven European countries found about 12% of asthma cases are linked to urban factors—think air pollution 🚗, dense development, and a lack of green spaces 🌳.

For city dwellers, taking a deep breath is sometimes harder than it should be, especially for kids or anyone already managing respiratory issues. These findings match what health pros see every day—urban air isn’t always as “clean” as it seems. Greener cities, smarter transport, and sustainable design aren’t just buzzwords—they’re ways to help everyone breathe easier.

Considering a move to the city or already living there? Pay attention to local air quality and green escapes—they could make a world of difference for your well-being. 🍃

A Less Invasive Option for Prostate Cancer Treatment?

Facing a prostate cancer diagnosis can feel like navigating a high-stakes road with multiple turns—where surgery or radiation have long been the default, often bringing tough side effects. 🚦 But new research out of UCLA is lighting up a better path: by using precision MRI technology alongside focal therapies like ultrasound, cryotherapy, or laser ablation, doctors can now target and treat only the cancerous area of the prostate. 🎯💡

This transformative approach means fewer men have to deal with the full impact of major treatments. Risks like urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and bowel problems—once seen as almost inevitable—are greatly reduced. It’s like using smart diagnostics on your car: instead of swapping out the whole engine, pinpoint the faulty part and fix it seamlessly while leaving everything else intact. 🛠️🚗

For patients and their loved ones, this represents hope for improved quality of life after prostate cancer—moving beyond the fears of treatment complications and toward a future where care is personalized and minimally invasive. As technology advances, we move closer to an era where precision leads the way to recovery—not just survival.

Quieter Classrooms May Help Calm Kids.

Picture a preschool classroom buzzing with curiosity and energy—alongside the steady hum of chatter and movement. For many children, normal classroom noise can quickly turn from cheerful background to overwhelming distraction. A new study brings fresh perspective: installing sound-absorbing ceilings in preschool classrooms doesn’t just dial down the noise, it helps create a calmer, more focused space for children. 🏫🔇

But the benefits go beyond peace and quiet. When noise drops, kids show more self-control, easier social connections, and fewer emotional outbursts. 👦🧒 Teachers often report smoother interactions and a more united group. Even more compelling, research suggests kids in acoustically-optimized classrooms experience stronger early language development—a vital building block for academic and social growth. 📚🗣️

This fits what many educators know: intentional, well-designed sensory environments pave the way for emotional well-being and cognitive development in early childhood. By turning down the distractions, we’re helping kids tune in, feel connected, and shine—one quieter classroom at a time. ✨

Low Back Pain and Hip Asymmetries.

When it comes to everyday mobility and comfort, the connection between your lower back and hips can’t be underestimated. 🏃‍♂️ In a recent examination involving 93 middle-aged and older adults, researchers found that individuals experiencing low back pain were also more likely to display hip asymmetries—differences in mobility, strength, or alignment from one hip to the other. 🔍 This finding points to changes in movement patterns or altered biomechanics that can complicate both diagnosis and treatment.

This link isn’t just a one-off observation; earlier studies have consistently shown that dysfunction in the hips and low back tend to go hand-in-hand. When one area is out of balance—whether due to muscle weakness, joint restriction, or long-standing posture habits—it can place extra strain and risk on the other. 🤸‍♀️ For example, a stiff or rotated hip may lead to unnatural movement in the lower back, increasing wear and tear on the spine over time. ⚙️

Understanding and addressing both hip and spinal mechanics is essential for relief and long-term resilience, especially as we age. Targeted exercise, professional assessment, and mindful movement can all play a role in restoring balance and reducing the chance of future discomfort. For those managing low back pain, considering hip alignment is often a critical step on the road to recovery and optimal mobility. 🚗💪

🧠 Your brain has built-in tools to help you feel better — and they don’t all come from a pill or a pricey solution.

Here's how to support your mental health by boosting your natural “feel-good” chemicals: 💚 Oxytocin – Connection 💙 Dopamine – Motivation 🧡 Serotonin – Stability 💜 Endorphins – Relief

None of this is a fix-all — especially when you're carrying trauma or deep exhaustion. But small steps can help nudge your system gently toward balance. Even just one of these today counts. Be kind to your nervous system. 💛

🧠 Your brain isn’t broken — it’s trying to protect you.

When we talk about “feel-good chemicals” like oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins, we’re really talking about how the nervous system finds moments of safety, connection, and relief.

But here’s the truth: 👉🏽 If you’ve lived through trauma or chronic stress, accessing these states can feel impossible.
👉🏽 What looks like “laziness” or “low motivation” might just be a nervous system stuck in survival mode.
👉🏽 And no — this list isn’t a prescription. It’s a menu of options, not obligations.

💡Even one of these actions — a few minutes of sunlight, a kind word, a deep breath — can gently remind your body: you’re safe enough to feel better.

You don’t have to do it all.
You just have to start where you are.
