Chiropractic & Nutrition Wellness Center

Chiropractic & Nutrition Wellness Center We recognize health is an inherent state of well-being in mind, body, and spirit. Our role is to remo join me on your journey to healing. In 1983, Dr. Karl R.O.S.

I offer a caring and compassionate, yet no-nonsense approach to core level healing of the underlying malfunctions that lead to poor health. Johnson, a chiropractor and clinical nutritionist in Shelby Township, MI, followed his heart into the health field. Now hundreds of chronic condition patients in southeastern, Michigan have the relief and quality of life that most chronically ill patients hope and wish for, but seldom get. Unlike some who just ‘wander’ into the health profession and make a place for themselves, Dr. Johnson recalls how he was ‘drawn’ into the health field, it was his calling, his destiny. Before starting down his formal education path, Dr. Johnson had met many people and formed great relationships with individuals who he felt had the answers to his questions. Questions about health and healing, and why did the current “health care” system ignore the foundations of health. Time has really flown since Dr. Johnson graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1983. He has met many wonderful people and has been blessed with a busy practice and a wonderful team of assistants. Now more than ever he finds it exciting to be a doctor of chiropractic and a clinical nutritionist. For years there has been a resistance to natural healing methods by others who were not yet enlightened by its benefits. Acceptance of methods complimentary to traditional medical care is at an all time high and as a result more and more people are seeking alternatives to drugs and surgery. His passion for helping people and learning about the principles that underlie the foundations for health is at an all time high. Patients with chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, vertigo and other balance disorders, peripheral neuropathy, migraines, hypothyroidism, severe back, leg, neck and arm pain, ADD, ADHD, Autism, autoimmune disorders, etc.) from all over southeast Michigan flock to the Johnson Chiropractic Neurology & Nutrition because of Dr. Johnson’s whole-person, patient-centered, functional neurological, structural and metabolic approach. Most patients know intuitively that there must be more to helping their chronic condition besides simply trying to patch it up with drugs, and with Dr. Johnson they get that complete functional approach that creates the vitality and quality of life they deserve. Dr. Karl R.O.S. Johnson graduated Summa Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. and was voted to serve as the Vice President of the Pi Tau Delta Delta (an international chiropractic honorary society, open to the top 15 percent of the graduating class who have maintained a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have never withdrawn from a class or have never received less than a grade 3 for any quality grade while at Palmer. Invitations to Pi Tau Delta are issued during the final academic term.) At Palmer College of Chiropractic I began my intense study of neurology that I knew would allow me to serve my patients at a high level. Chiropractic Neurology is the newest, state of the art diagnostic and treatment technique. It brings together research findings from the fields of psychology, neuropsychiatry, neurology, neurophysiology, and nutrition — and used this knowledge to bring hope to the sick, unhappy, and hurting of all ages. Dr. Johnson states, "As a chiropractic physician, I strive to provide the finest care possible and provide an optimum environment for healing. Using the latest diagnostic tests to find the cause of your pain, suffering or ill health, it is possible to design a plan of care to get you back to your favorite activities fast. In my practice, you’ll discover a complete array of services for your entire family. Through a great number of continuing education courses, I have been very careful to master the newest and most effective techniques in chiropractic rehabilitative and wellness services as well as nutritional therapy. The procedures used in my practice are well suited for all ages from infancy to the elderly. Chiropractic is a quickly advancing field and I believe it takes dedication, diligence and just plain hard work to keep up. But I feel I must for the good of my patients." My personal free time is spent training for distance charitable cycling events (such as the MS Bike), a pursuit I picked up after one of my patients encouraged me to participate in my first 200 mile bike ride over 18 years ago. I have completed 17 such rides on the western side of Michigan and even participated in a team triathalon where my team came in first place for the age group. I am the proud parent of 3 young adults, and am happily married to my wife Sandra. I also love to learn and study about health, the human body, success principles, and science. I enjoy gardening, healthy eating, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, photography and sight seeing.

Japanese biologist Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for uncovering autophagy, the body’s natural self-cleaning process. When nutrients are scarce, cells break down damaged components, recycle them, and produce energy, renewing themselves from within.

Autophagy isn’t just about survival it’s a vital mechanism for health and longevity. By clearing defective cells, the process helps protect against serious diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s while slowing premature aging. It reveals how deeply connected our cellular repair system is to overall well-being.

Ohsumi’s discovery transformed modern understanding of fasting, diet, and cellular health. It shows that giving the body time to pause and cleanse itself can trigger powerful natural repair, supporting long-term health naturally.

Did you know your everyday health habits could impact your brain’s future? 🧠✨ A recent study analyzing data from over 467,000 adults shines a light on metabolic syndrome—a combination of excess belly fat, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and unhealthy cholesterol levels—and its powerful link to Parkinson’s disease. 🚦🩺 The findings reveal that having metabolic syndrome can increase your risk of developing Parkinson’s by up to 40%, with the risk climbing even higher if you have a genetic predisposition.

What does this mean for you or your loved ones? Think of your metabolism as a car engine: when well-tuned, everything runs smoothly 🚗💡. But if several warning lights pop on—high blood pressure here, elevated sugar there—that’s a sign it’s time for a check-up. 🛠️ Addressing metabolic health isn’t just about preventing diabetes or heart disease; it could also play a key role in protecting your neurological health as you age.

Small changes—like adopting a nutritious diet 🥗, moving more 🚶‍♂️, or managing stress 🧘‍♀️—can make a difference. The earlier you act, the better your chances of keeping your “engine” running strong for the road ahead. .

Did you know certain weight-loss medications—like GLP-1 receptor agonists—could potentially affect your medical imaging results? 🧐 Recent reports highlight that these popular treatments, often prescribed for chronic conditions like diabetes and obesity, may temporarily change how your body processes the substances doctors rely on during scans such as MRIs or ultrasounds. 🧬🩻

While healthcare professionals are noticing this trend, it’s a helpful reminder of just how connected our health choices can be! 💡 Imagine trying a breakthrough therapy, only to have it unintentionally “blur the lens” on some diagnostics—similar to snapping a photo with an unexpected filter! 📸 If you’re taking GLP-1s or considering them as part of your wellness plan, be sure to let your care team know before any imaging appointments. ✨

🧠🚗 A recent MIT study highlights a thought-provoking trend: regular use of artificial intelligence may actually reprogram neural pathways, potentially leading to cognitive decline over time.

While AI tools are changing the world—making life easier, streamlining tasks, and connecting us in new ways—they may also be reshaping how our brains process information, remember details, and solve problems. Imagine your brain as a complex circuit; with each AI shortcut we take, certain “mental muscles” risk becoming less active—like a car that sits idle too long and loses its performance edge. 📱➡️💭

Researchers found patterns suggesting that dependence on AI solutions could gradually diminish natural recall and reasoning skills. For individuals managing chronic pain or autoimmune challenges, maintaining a sharp and engaged mind is crucial for making informed health choices and advocating for your well-being. 💡✨

So, while embracing technology, it’s wise to balance its use with stimulating activities: read, stay curious, join discussions, and let your brain “drive” without autopilot. Investing in your cognitive health now is like keeping your engine in top condition—essential for navigating life’s road ahead. 📚🚶‍♂️🗣️

Did you know that the foundation of lasting well-being for young adults might start with a good night’s sleep? 💤✨ Recent research combining data from the US, UK, and New Zealand highlights that quality sleep is actually the top predictor of overall well-being—outranking even nutrition and exercise.

Think of your body like a high-performance vehicle: sleep is the premium fuel that keeps your engine running smoothly. 🚗🌙 When you don’t get enough restful sleep, it’s like running on empty—no matter how well you eat or how often you move.

The study, published in PLOS One (September 2025), also found that eating enough fruits and vegetables and maintaining regular physical activity make a real impact—but sleep stands out as the key driver. 🥦🏋️‍♂️ So, prioritizing your bedtime routine, filling your plate with colorful plant foods, and moving your body each day aren’t just smart choices—they’re proven steps to support your mental and physical health.

If you’re navigating chronic pain, autoimmune symptoms, or simply want more energy, these lifestyle pillars deserve your attention. 🌱💪 Your well-being journey is unique, but science shows the basics—sleep, nutrition, movement—really matter at every age.

The journey to college can feel like a rollercoaster 🎢 for any student—but for those on the autism spectrum, the ride can have even steeper twists and turns. 💡 Imagine stepping into a world filled with new routines, social expectations, and sensory surprises—all while embracing the unique superpowers of autism. 🌈 It’s not surprising that a recent study found college students with autism are nearly seven times more likely to experience anxiety 😰 and six times more likely to face depression 😔 than their neurotypical peers. Navigating daily campus life, making friends, and meeting academic goals can seem overwhelming without the right network of support. 🤝 This highlights just how important it is to provide accessible resources and compassionate guidance so every student can truly thrive during this transformative chapter. 📚✨

Why do some older adults experience a slower recovery with chiropractic care, even when treatment is effective for low back pain and other chronic musculoskeletal challenges? 🤔 The answer may surprise you: it’s not just about age itself.

According to a recent study published in *Chiropractic & Manual Therapies* (July 2025), the key factors influencing recovery speed in older adults include higher baseline disability, the presence of additional musculoskeletal health concerns, lower self-rated health, and occurrences of depression. 📉💬 Imagine embarking on a road trip with extra luggage and a few flat tires—compared to those with a lighter load, your journey will simply take longer. 🚗🧳 In the same way, individuals facing these additional health hurdles often find their path to relief takes a bit more time. ⏳

At JCNN, we see you—not just your years, but your unique story and health journey. 🫶💙 Our personalized, neurological-based chiropractic approach is designed to address these factors, creating a care plan that acknowledges your specific needs. Feeling discouraged by a slower pace? Remember: every small win—more mobility, less pain, better sleep—brings you closer to real, lasting improvement. ✨💪🌙
