Hurricane season is upon us and VIA Health Partners understands that weather-preparedness is an important part of delivering quality care to patients and families. Thanks to the McAlister Foundation, our hospice house in Laurens County, South Carolina now has a new natural gas fired generator capable of powering the entire facility through any emergency. This new generator replaces an older diesel model which was decades old. The McAlister Foundation has been a key supporter of VIA Health Partners for years, helping to insure area residents have access to quality care regardless of age, medical complexity, or ability to pay.

Thank you to Sarah Thomas and her students with the TRIO program for helping us clean and organize our storage areas and help with landscaping at our Administration Building.

TRIO is a federal grant program that helps students who will be first generation college students on the path to post-secondary education. This TRIO program serves over 500 students in Cleveland County Schools.

Today we had the honor of providing lunch for Shelby Police Department’s Cop Camp Graduation. Each day, campers learn one of SPD’s core values and discussed topics related to safety. They also played games and went swimming. You can tell by the smiles a good time was had by all!

Recently we held our Annual Mostly Smiles Grief Camp for Hospice and Community bereaved children. As you can tell by these pictures, everyone had a wonderful time! This one-day camp for ages 6 – 16, is held each year at the Shelby City Park and is free for participants. If you are interested in learning more about our Grief Services, please call 704-487-4677.
