We are excited to offer free Car Seat Safety Checks by Pondera County Health Department at our Shelby Community Health Fair tomorrow, October 9, from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Shelby High School Gym. Tassie Christiaens, a certified Car Seat Tech, will be located between the high school and elementary school.

She will be available to check your car seats to ensure they are installed properly! Protect your most precious cargo and stop by to see Tassie! For more information about car seat checks, call (406) 271-3247.

Logan Health – Shelby is proud to host their annual Community Health Fair on Thursday, October 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shelby High School Gym. Toole County Health Department will be offering flu shots inside the gym and Logan Health will be offering discounted annual wellness labs (formerly birthday labs). The annual wellness labs can only be completed once per calendar year per individual and are only for individuals 18 years and older.

The community health fair is free and open to all ages! Local health and safety organizations, along with several Logan Health departments, will be providing resources and health screenings to help keep you and your family healthy this year. Free health screenings include body composition analysis, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, oxygen checks, spirometry test, and grip and strength tests.

Attention parents, caregivers, and drivers! Montana’s child passenger safety laws just underwent an important upgrade. As of October 1, new requirements under HB 586 are in effect to better protect our children in vehicles.

Key Changes You Need to Know:
• Children under age 2 must ride in a rear-facing car seat with an internal harness.
• Children ages 2 to 4 can use rear- or forward-facing car seats.
• Kids ages 4 to 8 must be secured in a forward-facing seat or booster with a lap-shoulder belt.
• Only children age 9 or older, or those who exceed car seat height/weight limits, may use the adult seat belt alone.
