Dear Clients
Unfortunately my Doppler indicated I still have blood clot in deep vein.. no worse but no better.
So they have started me on another round of Eliquis and more rest and elevation.. no driving.. no work … for another two weeks😭 Then another ultrasound to see if it’s dissolving or dissolved.
On the flip side, my leg is doing great!
I’m so sorry for the inconvenience to
all of you & believe me I’d rather be working.. That’s what I get for going ahead and planning my week.
Just pray it will be resolved soon.
I will see if I can talk to a couple therapist about filling in for those of you with pain issues.

While doing another online class today I picked up a few interesting facts about ancient treatments for headaches. Let’s just say I’m glad for the medical treatment we have now:

In 7000BC Archaeology evidence indicated the Neolithic area removed portions of the skull believing to “release demons or evil spirits”that caused the headaches and epilepsy. This treatment lasted into Middle Ages although few survived the treatment.

In 1500BC Egyptians treated headaches by using linen to bind a clay crocodile holding grain in its mouth to the head of those suffering neuralgia or shooting pain. Oddly enough this probably reduced discomfort just from the pressure of binding the scalp.

400BC Hippocrates -Father of Medicine was first to describe auras and physical symptoms of migraines. He was known for incorporating massage into his practice for headaches. He also believe vomiting could partially relieve migraines calling them bilious attacks!

Roman Physician Galen attributed headaches to digestive issues (quoting how constant we see the head attacked with pain when yellow bile is in the stomach…. The pain was said to cease when bile had been vomited)

Early Middle Ages used a drug soaked poultice made of o***m & vinegar applied to the head.

In 1672 Thomas Willis introduced the vascular theory of headaches stating migraines are caused by vasodilation-relating to spasms at peripheral end of nerves & he also introduced the term “neurology”.

Over 100 years later Erasmus Darwin proposed headache is caused by vasodilation & patients should be “spun”to force blood from head to toes.

In the Victorian era (1837-1901)they used “Laudanun” an alcoholic tincture of 10% o***m powder dissolved in high proof distilled spirits to relieve headache. However addiction & death from overdose became a problem with this treatment.

That’s just a few of my interesting reads today but not sure how that makes me a better therapist.. Maybe I’ll find out more as I continue that class tomorrow!!

FYI
To my Clients

I will NOT be working until
after my next ultrasound on Monday April 13th that hopefully 🙏🏻 shows the blood clot dissolved. Because of the nature of my work and the standing in place etc it poses more stress on my legs right after surgery and a clot. I certainly want to be safe and be able to maintain my schedule once Dr releases me back to work.

I will be starting back on a delayed schedule with at least half hour between clients and see no more the 6 per day short week.
Once I see I do that with no problem I can
rearrange my schedule to accommodate .

I have each of those on schedule next couple weeks and those who have had to be rescheduled on my call back
list!

Thank you for your patience and understanding!!!
You will be hearing from me asap

Dear Clients & Friends
I will be having out pt surgery Tues 24th
at UL Hospital downtown Louisville. So if I haven’t returned your call I’ve been super busy trying to see as many of you as I can before surgery.
I will have follow up appointment on Monday 30th to remove bandages and do a Doppler to examine the results.
Surgeon indicated I may be off two weeks which would have me back after Easter.
I’m hoping sooner then that but will wait and see and follow Dr advice so
I can hopefully heal from this and get back to a more normal schedule.
I have a call back list but if you have t heard from me week after Easter please text or call.
I apologize for the inconvenience to clients but we must admit I’ve been blessed and havent had interruptions to my work schedule for 25 years other then now, my husbands illness and death and a total hysterectomy 20 plus years ago!
Praying for perfect healing and good results…and little to no pain! Lol
