This year’s SNMA Region V Medical Education Conference (RMEC), hosted by the Region V Executive Board, will take place March 8th - March 10th, 2024. RMEC is a two-day immersive experience for SNMA and MAPS members in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, with dynamic Medical Student and Pre-Medical Student tracks carefully designed to provide academic enrichment, clinical experience, and leadership development to all attendees.

This year’s RMEC conference will be held virtually via Zoom. Please mark your calendars for the date. More information regarding the keynote speaker, agenda, and sponsors will follow soon! Our goal for the conference is to actively carry out our mission of supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious physicians. This is a reminder that each Chapter President must attend RMEC to fulfill their presidential duties.

Calling all Region V!

Black mentors play a vital role in supporting pre-medical students through representation, acting as role models, and fostering a nurturing environment. Representation holds significant importance, as it instills confidence and motivation in Black students when they see successful individuals who share their racial background. These mentors bring a unique perspective, understanding the cultural challenges, and offering insights to navigate specific hurdles encountered by Black individuals in the medical field.

We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming event that we have organized for pre-med undergraduate students, along with 11th and 12th graders. The event is scheduled for February 25th from 11am-2pm. To register for the event, please use the provided QR code. The link to join the session will be sent out shortly before the event.
