If you’re struggling, you deserve to make self-care a priority.
Whether that means lying in bed all day, eating comfort food, putting off homework, crying, sleeping, rescheduling plans, finding an escape through a good book, watching your favorite tv show, or doing nothing at all — give yourself permission to put your healing first.
Quiet the voice telling you to do more and be more, and today, whatever you do, let it be enough.
Feel your feelings, breathe, and be gentle with yourself.
Acknowledge that you’re doing the best you can to cope and survive.
And trust that during this time of struggle, it’s enough.

Here is the great paradox: Healing can happen in spite of your best efforts to heal. When you aren't trying to "feel better". When you aren’t "trying" at all…

It often happens when you open your arms wide to the Now, fall to the ground, and let yourself feel - the rage, the grief, the loneliness. When you let yourself break. When you let yourself feel worse if you need to. Speak your raw truth if you need to. Upset some people if you need to. Bring others closer.

Don’t force yourself to heal! Sometimes you just have to let go of the result, the agenda, the goal, and infuse your 'unhealed' experience with love. Drench your pain, your sorrow, your longing with warm awareness. Saturate the moment with yourself.

You have to create the conditions for healing, but you cannot “do” healing. The ego, with its need for control and domination, may rebel at this news, but your heart may rejoice.

Mysterious forces, ancient and unspeakable, do the healing.

You only have to get out of the way.
