We recently welcomed Alexa DeMoe to our Siren office!
Hello! My name is Alexa DeMoe and I am happy to join the Soar Services therapist team in the local community of Siren, Wisconsin.
My approach to people is centered around a strong belief that being human means life gets a little messy sometimes, it is part of our shared lived experience. My approach to therapy is to normalize and hold space for the human experience, starting with the person that I am sitting across from in session. I truly believe that healing starts with first being seen by another human. Like really seen. I am client centered in my therapy approach as I understand that the client’s story and context of their life matter tremendously, and I know a safe space to share that story is a key component to therapy. Therapy can offer a place for someone to understand your lens that you see the world through as well as offer different perspectives when we get stuck in our own lens.
Professionally, I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults in a variety of settings including individual therapy, family therapy, and in group therapy settings. I have concentrated on areas such as children/adolescents, substance use, and eating disorders throughout my graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin – Stout. Furthermore, I continue to grow, learn, and work in the following areas: trauma-informed care, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, diversity & inclusion, and LGBTQIA+ specific struggles.
Therapy can be short-term and quick. Therapy can be slow and last longer. For everyone that will look different. I do not want to put humans into a box that we can’t possibly fit in, so I will be excited to learn about how you are currently needing therapy in your life and how I can walk beside you on your journey.
