This past weekend the Dr. Cervantes was in Ann Arbor, MI with the Board of Directors of Eversight
“Being a member of the board for the past several years has allowed me the absolute privilege of working with a truly outstanding organization with an incredible mission: to restore sight and prevent blindness thought the healing power of donation, transplantation, and research. I can’t say enough great things about them and the people that work there.
Braun Maher started the meeting off with a moving invocation that she allowed me to share:
‘In a world filled with division, I hope we will remember what unites us here today…
Let us gather in the spirit of gratitude, unity, and profound respect. Today, we set aside this moment to honor those whose generosity transcends the boundaries of life itself—those who have, through the gift of their sight, illuminated the world for another.
We remember and celebrate the individuals who, in their final offering, chose to bring light where there was darkness. May we be ever mindful that the vision restored, the colors returned, the faces recognized, and the world made vivid again—all these are miracles born of their compassion.
Because of a single, profound choice, let us make a vow—to see with new eyes, to act with open hearts, and to honor the gift of sight and the boundless human capacity for generosity.
May we leave this gathering with renewed purpose: to recognize and celebrate the light in every person, to honor those who have given so selflessly, and to ensure that their legacy endures in the way we live, love, and support one another.’”
