An estimated 8.2 million Americans are affected by chronic wounds. A chronic wound is any wound that does not show significant improvement after 4 weeks or hasn’t completely healed within 8 weeks. Without the right care, chronic wounds can lead to serious infections and even amputations. Patients with PAD, diabetes and venous disease are especially vulnerable to developing non healing wounds and vascular surgeons play a critical role in wound care. If you think you may have a chronic wound, early intervention is critical. Please don’t wait to get evaluated.
