Scott Halverson
LMHC, IADC

Scott has worked in the Behavioral Health treatment field for over 30 years in a variety of roles and capacities and in many different levels of care and specialized services. Scott has spent most of his career with Alegent Health / CHI Health, working in various roles to include direct care, supervisory and managerial positions in outpatient, partial hospital, residential and inpatient treatment. Scott received his Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Nebraska- Omaha, is licensed as a mental health counselor and certified as a substance abuse counselor.

Scott has a passion for serving others and has enjoyed being on various boards and committees over the years, including most recently the Southwest Iowa Mental Health and Disabilities Governing and Advisory Boards. He has also been actively involved with various youth sports as a coach and referee.

Scott was born and raised in a small town west of Omaha and went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for his undergrad degree (Go Huskers!). However, he chose Southwest Iowa to raise his own family and has lived in a few different communities over the years, loving the strong sense of community and support for one another he has experienced throughout his journey.

Scott has three grown children and a wife of many years. He has many hobbies to include hiking, biking, riding his motorcycle, playing drums, hunting, fishing, and playing and attending sporting events. He loves spending time with his family including Bear, his Labrador Retriever.

Check out this awesome gal!! Grace has joined our Red Oak clinic location as a counselor, after completing her internships with us. We are so excited to have her on our team!

Grace Horner
MSCC

Grace has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bellevue University. She a member of two honor societies focused on excellence in online learning and counseling studies – Omega Lambda Nu and Chi Sigma Iota.

Grace has previous experience in the mental health profession working in community-based inpatient mental health, correctional settings, and eating disorder care. She has a passion for providing empathy and respect while supporting individuals, children, couples, and families on their healing journey. Grace aims to create a safe environment for clients as they work on achieving their therapy goals, identifying values and strengths, and cultivating coping skills. Her therapeutic approach can be described as genuine, empathetic, and inclusive with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques.

Grace grew up in Northeast Nebraska, and moved to the Omaha area after college. She previously owned a landscape maintenance company, and enjoys the benefits of nature-based self-care. In her free time, she likes to go on walks or hikes, read, spend time with her friends and family, and get away from the city to explore new places or go camping.

Staff Spotlight: Melisa Pelster
Melisa first joined our clinic team as a receptionist over eight years ago. She jumped in headfirst and has been willing to learn and help in other roles when needed. She has moved up into billing full time and handles all things insurance/payment related.
Melisa will take the initiative to find solutions to problems on her own and she will offer help to anyone that needs it. She is friendly to everyone and very passionate about her work. She is a fast learner and offers creative suggestions/ideas whenever possible.

We are grateful she's a part of our Midwest Mental Health team 💙

Staff Spotlight: Andie Terwilliger

Andie first joined us as a temp licensed therapist and has now officially completed all of her hours to become fully licensed - a huge milestone worth celebrating!

In her work, Andie consistently offers kindness, compassion, and adds a creative, fun twist, that helps clients feel safe and supported. She has a natural gift for creating a welcoming environment where learning, growth, and healing can happen.

Around the office, Andie is a treasure trove of knowledge and is truly an empathetic spirit - always thoughtful, encouraging, and uplifting. We also love her creativity, which brings so much energy, positivity, and new ideas to our team.

Please join us in congratulating Andie on this exciting next chapter - we're so proud of her and grateful she's a part of our Midwest Mental Health family.

Myrna Rodriguez
BHIS Provider

Myrna has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Iowa State University. She completed her internship with Midwest Mental Health, and is very excited to start this new journey as a BHIS Provider. She grew up and graduated from Sidney Iowa where she enjoyed participating and cheering on her older brothers in sporting events.

In her free time Myrna loves babysitting her niece and nephews, being outdoors and playing games, going on walks, and spending time with friends and family.

Myrna has a passion for putting a smile on everyone’s face and helping those around her see their potential!

Lauren is one of our amazing BHIS Team members. She has worked for Midwest Mental Health for a little over a year as a BHIS Provider. Lauren is kind and compassionate and builds great relationships with her clients and families. Lauren is also dedicated to creating joy wherever she goes and gives a positive energy to all around her. She is always willing to help anyone with anything they need, with a smile on her face. Lauren is a great member of the Midwest Mental Health team and we are truly lucky to have her. 🩵
