Checkmat BJJ Gallatin is a Jiu Jitsu, Martial Arts, and Fitness Gym in the city of Gallatin, TN. of Sumner County as well as being a member of the Gallatin Tennessee Chamber of Commerce. Checkmat BJJ Gallatin offers Jiu Jitsu, Grappling, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Self Defense and Anti Bullying. Checkmat BJJ is world renowned and founded under Checkmat BJJ head Leo Vieira in 2008 as well as being registered and well respected with the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). Checkmat BJJ has over 200 schools/affiliates combined worldwide and is growing strong with Checkmat BJJ Gallatin being one of those schools/affiliates under the ownership of head instructor Professor Sebastian B. Rodriguez. Professor Sebastian, who is a southern California native is currently a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu under Checkmat BJJ 3rd degree Black Belt Ricardo “Pantcho” Feliciano (RF BJJ). Professor Sebastian also holds a 3rd degree black belt in Japanese Kempo Karate and is trained in Muay Thai Kickboxing, American Kick Boxing and Boxing. Professor Sebastian also fought professionally for over 10 years in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) with the world renowned Team Quest under long time friends and training partners Dan Hendo Henderson and Heath Sims. Professor Sebastian is a martial artist and amateur wrestler of over 25 years and a strength and conditioning coach of over 20 years working with children to pro athletes and everything in between. Professor Sebastian is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), as well as the Red Cross in children and adults CPR, AED, and First Aid.
