The World Health Organization reports that the global prevalence of zinc deficiency may be as high as 31 percent. Most people in the U.S. are unaware of the zinc deficiency epidemic or that zinc deficiency is a significant problem in most countries worldwide.
Zinc plays a significant role in the human body. More than 300 enzymes are estimated to need Zinc for physiological and biological activation, directly or indirectly. Critical biological processes, such as the body's catalytic, structural, and regulatory functions, require adequate Zinc for proper functioning.
In addition to its essential role in improving growth and physiological functions, Zinc regulates the body's immune system through hormonal balance.
