SPOT-LIGHT on Alyssia:
Alyssia joined the team at SPOT in April, 2026. She is already making strong connections with our
clients here, is a quick and enthusiastic learner, and well-liked by our families. We feel very lucky to
have her here!
Alyssia is a dedicated Occupational Therapist who found her passion for helping others through a
unique path in both education and healthcare. She began her career as a special education teacher,
supporting students academically and socially. It was during this time that she discovered
occupational therapy and was inspired to make a broader, more hands-on impact. She attended
Midwestern University in Illinois for graduate school, where she earned her clinical doctorate degree.
She also holds a Bachelor& #39;s degree in Special Education and brings a strong foundation in learning
and behavior to her work.
Since becoming an official OT in 2020, Alyssia has built experience across a variety of settings,
including schools, clinics, and neurorehabilitation facilities. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist
and has supported individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries and strokes, as well as
children with a wide range of developmental, sensory, and motor needs.
Today, Alyssia works with children of all ages in both clinics and schools. She enjoys incorporating
play, creativity, and connection into her sessions while using evidence-based strategies to support
each child's growth and independence. She values building strong relationships with families and
collaborating with caregivers, teachers, and other professionals. Alyssia strives to create a
supportive and engaging environment where children feel comfortable, confident, and motivated to
reach their goals.
Outside of work, Alyssia loves spending quality time with her partner and son. She enjoys traveling,
photography, and visiting Disney parks (including international destinations). She also loves
snowboarding, golfing, fishing, embroidery, drawing, watching documentaries, reading, and
challenging herself with fun escape room adventures.
Welcome to the SPOT team Alyssia!
