At Centric, we often say that Hospice isn't about giving up—it’s about making every moment count. Our Sherman team had the profound honor of proving that for a very special hero, Mr. Richard. ❤️🇺🇸
⚾️ The "Perfect" Game
Last Monday, Mr. Richard shared his #1 wish: to see his grandson, Paul, play baseball one last time. With a whirlwind of coordination between our team, we moved mountains to get him home from the hospital and straight to the ballpark.
We blocked off the perfect spot at the field in Sherman with a clear view of the mound. Thanks to coaches J.J. Gomez and Casey Scoggins, Paul started the game as pitcher—throwing two scoreless innings right in front of his Grandpa! Mr. Richard’s verdict? "It was perfect."
⚓️ A Final Salute
Mr. Richard is a proud Navy Veteran who shakes the hand of every fellow service member he meets. Because he has chosen to donate his body to science, he won’t have a traditional military funeral—so we brought the honors to him.
The Centric team and his family gathered as First Lieutenant Billy Teague, a veteran with two decades of service to our community, presented Mr. Richard with a beautiful American-made flag. In a moment that moved us all, he was thanked on behalf of a grateful nation for his service.
This is the heart of Hospice. It’s the late-night pacing, the frantic phone calls, and the "Unity" of a team determined to turn a "last wish" into a lasting memory.
A massive thank you to the team who made this possible:
