Day 5 of Week.
Today we are talking about being prepared!
Before you and your partner become s*xually active, it is always best to talk to each other about your s*xual health. That way, you can know if you want to proceed with this person, or not.
Do not ever be afraid to voice your needs, fears, or desires when it comes to s*x. You are the only person in charge of your body so what you say, goes!
If your partner tries to disagree about using any kind of protection, try and gently remind them how important it is to practice safe s*x. If they still don’t agree, the decision is yours and yours alone. There should never be any pressure to have unprotected s*x.

Day 4 of Week
Today we are talking about Syphilis, Ge***al Herpes, and HIV.
Below are some facts straight from CDC about these STI’s. Just a few extra things to note though!
Women who are pregnant, can give their baby syphilis, which is called conge***al syphilis. Without treatment this can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, early birth, low birth weight, or death shortly after birth. Babies born with syphilis can be born with deformed bones, severe anemia, enlarged liver or spleen, jaundice, blindness or deafness, meningitis, or skin rashes.
Ge***al Herpes do not necessarily have to be spread from ge***al to ge***al. If your partner(s) has an open sore on their mouth and performs oral, you can transmit HSV1 that way as well.
HIV cannot be spread through saliva or sharing drinks, bathrooms, or even holding hands! Bodily fluid must come in contact with a mucous membrane or damaged tissue. It can also be directly injected into the bloodstream using a needle. There are many ways to prevent all of these STI’s! Be on the lookout for tow for more information.

While Bacterial Vaginosis is NOT an STI, it is still included in the testing and awareness because it can present like one and cause just as much harm as all the others.
As the week continues, we will be posting more facts and information on other STI’s.
