Weeks 9–12: A Fully Formed Little One

All major organs are present and beginning to function. The baby can yawn, stretch, and even hiccup! Fingerprints form — completely unique to that child. The baby’s s*x can be determined by ultrasound, and the face is clearly human. By the end of week 12, the baby is about 2.5 inches long and weighs around half an ounce — yet every detail of a newborn is already there.

Weeks 5–8: Major Development Milestones

By week 6, brain waves can be detected. Facial features — like eyes, nose, and mouth begin to form. Arms and legs start to take shape, and tiny fingers begin to appear. The baby’s heart is now beating about 110–160 times per minute, which is faster than an adult’s! By week 8, the baby is about the size of a raspberry and already moving inside the womb.

🌱 Weeks 1–4: The Beginning of Life

Life begins at conception, a unique DNA is formed, completely distinct from both parents. Around day 22, the baby’s tiny heart begins to beat! The neural tube (which becomes the brain and spinal cord) starts forming. By week 4, the baby is about the size of a poppy seed, and the foundation for every major organ is beginning to develop.
