Healing Bodywork Art:
The Arvigo Technique of Maya Abdominal therapy
āOur Issues are in Our Tissuesā
The very first time I heard those medicine words spoken was at my training to learn how to perform Maya Abdominal therapy. I was intrigued by the idea of abdominal massage as a long sufferer of menstrual problems and infertility and felt ready to truly embrace and reconnect with my feminine nature.
Maya Abdominal therapy came from traditional healers from the Aztec jungle, passed down by Belizeans, Shaman Don Eligjio Panti and Miss Hortence Robinson, a renowned herbal midwife, both of whom mentored Dr. Rosita Argivo, DN. These techniques have the ability to eliminate the primary causes of reproductive and digestive complaints in women and men. Don Elijio taught that the uterus is a womanās center and when it is out of balance, she will be physically, emotionally, and spiritually out of place. What we hold in our bodies leaves a lasting imprint that is aching to be liberated.
This gentle style of bodywork eases muscular tension and holding patterns that ripple into emotional traumas stored in the body, allowing the recipient to achieve a greater connection to self while encouraging emotional release.
What can Maya Abdominal therapy help with?
-Increasing the vital flow of fluids and energy throughout the whole body.
-Harmonizing a womenās pelvis, from pelvic floor to low back, from diaphragm to uterus. Also has the ability to regulate menstruation, dissolve cysts, scar tissue, and adhesions.
-Gently repositions digestive and reproductive organs. MAM is especially excellent at adjusting a displaced uterus, which is the main culprit in a myriad of womenās health conditions.
-Draining congestion and stagnation from digestive and reproductive organs to prevent progression of symptoms into chronic disease.
-Improving Fertility outcomes in women and men.
-Providing support during pregnancy, nurturing both mother and baby.
-Releasing patterns of emotional and spiritual armoring.
Self-Care to Connect with your Core
-Place your hands on your abdomen. Breathe deeply and notice any body sensation of ease, dis-ease, or holding. With some nourishing oil, begin to massage in clockwise circles around the belly button, which is the direction of digestion. This practice can be done at any time in a woman's cycle, but ideally before menstruation is the best time to support her reproductive system. The best time to help improve digestion is 1 hour after a meal, or before bed.
