A letter from Dr Miers:

Dear Families,

After 35 wonderful years with you at the Sherwood Family Medical Center, the time has come for me to hang up my stethoscope and enter retirement. It has been a bittersweet decision as I love the practice of Pediatrics and especially love my patients and their families, but it is with a full heart and deep gratitude that I write this letter to say goodbye.

Being your pediatrician has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for not just one, but sometimes two and even three generations of your families. Watching babies grow into amazing young adults and now seeing some of them return with children of their own, has been one of the most meaningful experiences for me.

You welcomed me into your lives and trusted me with your most precious gifts—your children. Through late-night phone calls, milestone celebrations, bumps, bruises, and everything in between, I have felt deeply connected to each and every one of you. You didn’t just let me be your doctor—you allowed me to become a small part of your family. For that, I will always be grateful.

While I am excited to embrace this new chapter of life with more time for family, travel, gardening, needlework, and returning to taking some college classes, leaving behind the relationships I’ve built is not easy. Please know that I carry with me countless memories of laughter and love that I witnessed in you and your families as well as the moments of resilience and strength over the years.

You all truly mean so much to me and I could not have made this decision to retire without the confidence that my practice and the families that I have served would be left in caring hands. I have worked closely with the Clinic and Baptist Health to find a wonderful pediatrician. Dr Adam Ratliff has many of the practice philosophies which are important to me. He is a compassionate man and was voted by his resident faculty to be the best physician in their residency group. He has always wanted to practice pediatrics in a private clinic and is very excited about joining the Sherwood Family Medical team. He will be starting August 1, 2025.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you, for your trust, your warmth, and the privilege of being part of your family's story.

With love and gratitude,

"Dr Jane"

Jane F Miers, MD Sherwood Family Medical Center
