25 years ago I was working as a CNA and overheard an SLP teaching a brain injured 15 year boy what a brush and a cup were. I was completely enamored. My boss let me transfer to the rehab department and the rest is history.

Please welcome Jaelynn to the Just Imagine Pediatric Therapy team! She is a recent graduate with a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Rush University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Auburn University and is excited to begin her clinical fellowship year with us this summer. She has a strong interest in articulation and phonological disorders. Celebrating accomplishments and milestones, no matter how big or small, is one of her favorite parts of the profession. Jaelynn is a great fit for our clinic, and the kids love her already. I’m so pleased we will be able to help more kids find their voice, because everyone deserves a voice!

Meta nailed it with this one. 💕 Empathy and compassion didn’t just make the list, they are the top of the list. THE most critical and most important way to support communicate is to care. Without that, not much connection happens, so not much communication follows. Plain and simple.

🚜 Scooping blocks to find the flash cards taped to them -> following directions/big motor movements/phonology/sound practice
🧩 Puzzle pieces in a sensory bin -> fine motor, sensory, matching, language, problem solving
🎯 NOW my very busy friend is regulated and ready to work on some more challenging tasks!
🤓 It looks like play bc it’s so fun, but there is definitely a method to the madness!
