Have you ever heard of these words being used to describe birth? It seems that society only portrays birth as very painful, sometimes miserable, and unrealistically fast. Even some healthcare professionals can unintentionally inflict fear when not necessary, because they see birth as a medical emergency. (most cases, ITS NOT). While that can be the case, there are so many other ways to describe the experience. Birth is hardly ever seen in a positive light. It's been something women are taught to fear. But you don't have to be afraid! Talk to me about how these words can be apart of your birth story.

Yep! You read that right! I was shocked too. How many of us during the birth process were told to hold our breath and push for 10 seconds at a time??? (AKA coached pushing). THIS IS SO WRONG and does not align with the design of a body that is giving birth.

❓Did you know breathing with contractions instead of pushing could also minimize pain?

🌿 Breathing through contractions rather than pushing allows your baby to SLOWLY move down, protecting those soft tissues by allowing it to stretch naturally - which means less tearing or none at all.
🌿 Breathing instead of pushing also minimizes pressure on your pelvic floor -- which means little to no damage. So you wont have to cross your legs every time you sneeze! 🥳🤣 (IYKYK)

This labor technique often leads to what they call Fetal Ejection Reflex. Which is when your baby- quite literally -flies out involuntary, with no effort or pushing! Imagine if it were that easy for everyone!

‼️‼️ Did you know that your uterus will push your baby out all by itself? Physically speaking... its equivalent to taking a 💩.

Did you know your baby could come out that easy if you just let your uterus do the work? All you need to do is B R E A T H E and surrender to those waves!

🌿 So unclench your fists, relax your face, relax your jaw... and breathe.🍃

Pushing when it doesn't feel natural is what causes the most damage. Thats why just breathing and letting your body do its natural thing is so important! Holding your breath and pushing for 10 seconds at a time like they instruct in most hospitals can prolong the birthing process and can even lead to a c-section 👉🏼 Your provider may see that you're pushing "for too long" (on their command, I might add) and when nothing happens after a while they'll just resort to a c-section, which most mamas know that is NOT an easy route!

All you need to learn to do is open, breathe and release. You got this.💗

P.S. The main point I will always try to get across.... is for you to do what is most comfortable and natural for YOU. Not your doctor. Not your L&D nurse. Not ANYONE. But you. 🙌🏼

Don’t know where to start??? It’s okay neither did I, and it was OVERWHELMING. Thats why I became a postpartum doula so I could give you the knowledge!!! Here’s an Amazon list of all my personal favorites PLUS what I’ve heard worked well for other mamas. Postpartum is the most vulnerable time in a mothers life. Everything’s changing, hormones are crazy, and you’re trying not to lose your mind!!! I understand! Hopefully this prepares you a little more. I will add more to this list as I learn and think of other things that would be beneficial so keep up with it! 💕

“FUN FACT ABOUT MILK-MAKING. Did you know you grow more milk-making cells in your breasts with each pregnancy? So the more pregnancies you have, the more grapes (erhm.. I mean milk-making cells) you’ll have! 🍇

Were you a first time mom struggling with milk supply like me? I don’t think a day went by where I didn’t think about ways to at least keep up my supply.

Second time around? A BOUNTIFUL supply! Now there are many factors for this, but one is because the hormone changes that you go through in pregnancy help your body make more milk-making cells. So in addition to the ones you had from your last pregnancy, you’ll have some more!

Pretty neat huh? So if your breastfeeding journey didn’t work out the way you wanted to your first time, it likely won’t be the same the second time around (for many reasons, having more milk-making cells being one of them!) 🙌🏻

I’ll have way more information like this on my website. Be the first to know! Link in the bio or go to breastfeedingdietitian.com 🤱”
