Vitreoretinal Consultants of New York [VRC] assigns different types of assistants to work with Dr. Weber in both our Shirley and Commack Offices.

Anthony Badalamenti is our intern and Imaging Specialist and injection technician for VRC. He has just been accepted to medical school and will be attending this fall of 2024.

Franklin Flores Vilorio is our Scribe and injection specialist for VRC. ‘Frank’ aspires to enter a Nursing Program to pursue his BSN this year and has been employed for VRC for over 2 years now.

James Soque is a Senior Imaging Specialist and Assistant in Vitreoretinal Surgery with VRC. A seasoned photographer and imaging specialist, Jim has worked in the field of Retina and Vitreous in ophthalmology for over 35 years not only in retinal imaging, but also as a Board member with the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society, and instructor, and consultant in ophthalmic imaging.

Carlos Simmonds is a Senior Ophthalmic Scribe and Injection Specialist for VRC. He works the closest with Dr Weber in both our Commack and Shirley offices and has over 5 years’ experience in all aspects of ophthalmic care for VRC.

Did you know a champagne cork can fly out of the bottle at a speed of up to 50 miles per hour? That is fast enough to break glass and or cause severe eye injuries. If the cork hits the eye, it can lead to bleeding, abrasions, glaucoma, and even a retinal tear or retinal detachment. If you want to open a bottle of champagne without any accidents, here are a few tips that might come in handy:
