I am not sure how or when I began my apprenticeship with sorrow.
I do know that it was my gateway back into the breathing and animate world.
It was through the dark waters of grief that I came to touch my unlived life...
There is some strange intimacy between grief and aliveness, some sacred exchange between what seems unbearable and what is most exquisitely alive.
Through this, I have come to have a lasting faith in grief.
Inspired by the words of Francis Weller in his writing in "the wild edge of sorrow". He has been a guide, a teacher, a companion on that road of recovering all the ancient parts in me that have made grief the exiled friend.
Maybe it started when I was born and suffered the loss of contact with the primordial essential touch of my dear mother.
Maybe it was fed through forgotten memories of the loss of love, care, or unanswered needs in relationships.
Maybe it was sustained by the broken dreams, the lost friends, the broken promise of lovers, the ultimate reality of the presence of suffering in life.

Those are now the times when I could not escape it anymore. The ravage of death in my relatives and elders this year. The amplified presence of grief around me. The hopelessness of so many as they lost their jobs, their parents, their friends, their lands, and their homes.

In a usually very festive and innocent time of the year, Christmas family réunions, I could not escape the feeling in my body of being far from my loved ones, and finally embrace the shore of uncertainty, the rivers of grief, the land of losses.

As I kept diving more was opening.
We all tend to seek the next expansion the next experience, the next realization, the next frontier - but honestly as I have always experienced, and a dear friend reminded me, all the work and wisdom is in the space of contraction and integration which is never given enough time and space.

So I dedicated most of my time to this moment - on the outside it looks like I am not doing much and nothing is moving or progressing (we love that word probably too much) but the depth of the growth is actually accelerated because I spend so much time in that place of nothingness.
It has nothing to do with contemplation or paralysis or avoidance - quite the contrary. It has nothing to do with making it all about grief either. Or maybe It is. For that one moment.

As my apprenticeship with sorrow grows, I discover new gems of wisdom, that were hidden in those abandoned parts of self. And I finally get in touch with a depth of understanding of it that I had never reached.
In that space where I learn to bear myself, to bear the immense pain, I finally understood better the needs I have. And there I finally understand better the needs of the world to hold and heal the unresolved grief and sorrow of colonialism, racism, wars, earth degradation, and trans-generational trauma.
I realize with humbleness how ill-equipped our culture, communities, and most individuals are to hold that space. We are trying to fix it. To give what is not requested. We are the victims and the perpetrators of a falling system.

We invade the very tender and sacred space of grief with our western mind of "fixing" and project our own disgust for depression, hopelessness, sorrows, and separation with disembodied statements and saviors syndromes.
Yet here grief and sorrow are patiently doing their work. Calling for a different type of communion and community. They are calling the ones who have found faith with grief and in grief, to lay a track of small stone pebbles in this dark forest. So that those who are lost in it can find their way home in their own time, at their own rhythm, and with their own wisdom too.

As Naomi Nye beautifully said:
"Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,
You must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.
You must wake up with sorrow.
You must speak it till your voice
Catches the thread of all sorrows
And you see the size of the cloth."
I am a weaver. So I will keep weaving all those sorrows. And that is the work and the truth I can always relate to.
In that sacred work, that weaving, I discovered the sacred exchange between what seems unbearable and what is most exquisitely alive.~

With love,

Love and compassion embodied in our hardware

Christmas day and I am leading a morning meditation to Sangha on zoom. I am surprised that people woke up early to come and meditate together. I am overjoyed. I light the candle and ring the meditation bell and we start.

Self-hug
My hands moved to hug my shoulders, I lead them with words to do the same “feel your hands hugging your shoulders” the words are flowing through and my heart sings:
“In the holiday of Light, love and gratitude, we start with loving ourself, hug yourself with tender embrace, like you hold a precious lover”
I look up at their faces some are smiling some are in a pleasure mode. We forget we can comfort ourselves, its natural response of our compassionate nature. We have a tummy ache we touch the tummy. We have a headache we touch the head. You need a hug and no one is around hold yourself, massage your face, rub your hands, massage your shoulders, give yourself a foot massage, its do it yourself time when no one can do it for you. With tender loving hands comfort is felt and loneliness dispersed”.
By now everyone is smiling.

Spiritual heart
“Put your hands on your heart” I gently asked, I feel my heartbeat, and say ”feel your heart song”.
“Deep in the middle of the physical heart there is a spiritual heart and in it the Light of the Divine resides. Let sense and feel this Holy Temple” silence, everyone is entering to their holy of holy.
Time stopped from moving forward, everyone seems to be touched by this timeless source within.

Priestess of Breath
My hand started to move towards my Solar Plexus my voice followed.
” Move one hand to the solar plexus. In the solar plexus you can feel the work of the Diaphragm; the Priestess of Breath, she initiates the breath flowing in by expanding herself. gratitude to the priestess of breath”.
MY breath is deepening and my voice activates AHAHAHA sounds
I guide them to feel the deepening and sounding the sound of HAHAHAHAH as we exhale.

The prime mover, the center of fire
After a while in silence of gratitude my hand moves to my belly and my voice follows.
“Now move this hand to the belly, the Hara (in Hindu) or Tatian (in Chinese) the fire center, a place of initiation of the fire of life.
“It’s the fire of digestions and nourishment” In gratitude to the fire of life, we feel the sensation, the breath, and our heart in gratitude.
We stay here dwelling in the knowing of this magical cosmic intelligence body.

Spiritual Womb of Compassion
My voice continues, flowing from a place of no thought, guiding me and them.
“Here resides also the womb, a physical womb of the woman and a spiritual womb to both male and women.
In the sacred ancient Hebrew Language Womb translated to Compassion. Here resides our compassion; love in action. Embodied within our physical body.

The two Divine Lights Love and Compassion
“The Light of Divine Love in the Spiritual Heart and the Light of Divine Compassion in the Spiritual Womb.
What we long for outside of us looking for it in all directions to satisfy the hunger for it, is hidden in plain sight in our body.
The two Divine Lights of Love and Compassion are closer to us then our breath, the prime movers of our Being radiating, giving, nourishing and caring nonstop”

The blessings
The light of recognition turns on and the sangha members smile in relief and pleasure of knowing truth.
“What else we can ask for when all is already given? Maybe that is moment of enlightened consciousness will be spread to lightened the collective hearts and wombs of humanity?
Nothing to do recognize it and smile, it’s does itself always.
May all sentient beings will be nourished by this truth and beauty.
Happy holydays and happy new year.

Dear Friends,

A new holiday Season is about to start, and even more than before, My wish to You—and all of us—is that the lights of these festive times may shine strongly in our hearts and guide our inner compass to a future of peace.

2023 has been a tragic year in so many aspects and it's still continued. As we feel the depth of the crisis, we can also perceive the power of the new Light that is informing and supporting the evolutionary phase we are in.

Let’s stay strong and united, combining hopes and ideals with positive concrete actions, feeding our soul with Love and Beauty.
