My clients' owners are always surprised when I tell them the source of their horses movement issues may be coming from their poll. Do not underestimate the power of a tight poll to wreak havoc on your horse's entire body. Here is an excellent article reviewing how a tight poll affects that rest of the body.

I just spent an amazing weekend massaging in Ellensburg, WA. Oh how I have missed my mini boys, Lunar and Chance, since they moved from Snohomish to Eastern Washington! Such a beautiful area, and they are happy campers in their new digs! Check out Chance, 24 years young, zipping around his paddock! The power of massage and letting your horse be a horse! 💕

Happy Retirement, Justice!

While I am usually sad to end massage service with an equine client, today I could not be happier. Seattle Mounted Police Horse Justice retires after 10 years of helping to keep the people of Seattle safe and acting as an equine ambassador to neighborhoods that might never otherwise know how amazing horses are! The SPD do treat their horses like gold, and they are loved and respected as partners. Juice, I wish you a beautiful retirement on your mom’s many acres – no one deserves it more!

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers –two legged and four legged!

Back in March, I had the privilege to massage beautiful pregnant Friesian mare, Princess Leia, at Sky Walker Stables (of course) in Jamestown, NY, my home town. Well, she just gave birth to a gorgeous, gangly baby girl! Congrats, Princess!

I (and many others) lost a beautiful equine friend yesterday. Luna, a handsome and sassy Kiger mustang, was my first horse and the inspiration for my becoming an equine massage therapist. He truly changed the course of my life and taught me so much about communicating with horses and giving comfort and healing. When I leased him, I started out trying to ride him, but I never felt comfortable on his back – I did not enjoy riding on the back of another living being. However, when I was on the ground with him, magic happened in natural horsemanship liberty work and massage. Watching his lip droop after a nice rub down was the delight of my week. When my lease was up, he went on to bigger and better things in Eastern Washington and was a skilled and trusted trail partner for many.
I will never forget you, Luna, my inspiration and first horse love. You taught me so much and were so patient with me and all my mistakes with you. You were, and are, so loved by so many. How appropriate that there was a beautiful full moon last night to guide you home. God bless you, Luna - a little bit of you will still be there in every massage I give to another horse. Until we meet again...💕

As part of my equine manual lymphatic drainage certification, I just spent an AMAZING weekend at the Parnell Clydesdale Ranch in Sandpoint, ID. Getting to work with these huge and gentle horses was such an experience! Draft horses are prone to lymphedema and the Parnells showed us great hospitality and kindness in allowing us to practice drainage techniques on their beautiful horses. They even treated us to a Halloween wagon ride around their stunning 80 acre ranch! I stayed on for an extra day just to massage their gorgeous mares. Best weekend in a long, long time! Just spent a wonderful weekend massaging at beautiful Rendezvous Ranch in Cashmere, WA. Owner Chris Jonason runs some challenging and fun clinics there. This weekend was trail and equitation skills. The horses and owners learned so much. Ground work is so important for you and your horse, I cannot stress enough! It builds confidence in both horse and human partner.
