๐Ÿ’” We Need Your Help โ€“ A Devastating Fire Has Hit Our Lynnwood Location ๐Ÿ’”

Over the weekend, a devastating fire tore through our Lynnwood building, leaving behind not only physical damage but a deep impact on the heart of our work. Center for Human Services has long been a place of healing, learning, and hope for children, youth, adults, and families.

Now, weโ€™re facing one of the biggest challenges in our history. Our ability to continue providing critical counseling, education, and support services has been disrupted. However, even in the ashes, our mission remains, to care for our community, and right now, we need your help.

Your emergency support can help us:

โค๏ธ Restore essential services that so many individuals and families rely on, especially in this moment of crisis.

๐Ÿ  Secure temporary spaces so we can keep providing a safe and welcoming place for all.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Support our incredible staff who are now displaced but still committed to serving others.

Please consider giving today. Every single donation, big or small, makes a real and immediate difference. Your kindness and generosity will help us rise from this tragedy stronger than ever!

Monday, March 31st is International Transgender Day of Visibility. We honor and celebrate the lives and contributions of transgender and non-binary people, while also acknowledging the ongoing challenges they face, and reaffirming our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable environment.
Transgender Day of Visibility is an important opportunity to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by the transgender community, including discrimination, violence, and lack of access to basic rights.
If you are a cisgender or binary person, take the time to educate yourself about transgender issues, use correct pronouns and names, and speak out against discrimination and prejudice.
And for our trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive friends, family, neighbors, and community members we see you and we love you and will be by your side lifting you up.
Please remember to be kind and smile at someone today.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is to remember those whose lives have been lost due to transphobia and discrimination in the past year. Transgender and gender-expansive individuals are at an increased risk of fatal violence due to stigma and discrimination, this risk compounds with those who hold multiple marginalized identities. We see this with the overwhelming majority of BIPOC transgender women who we remember each year. On this day we honor the memories of those we have lost and reach out to support one another to protect our future.

๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’š Mental Health Matters! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿง

We're proud to announce that Mayor Chris Roberts has proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month in the City of Shoreline! This proclamation is a testament to our commitment to recognizing the widespread impact of mental health and the importance of promoting mental well-being within our community.

In acknowledging Mental Health Awareness Month, we reaffirm our dedication to understanding mental health, combatting stigma, and ensuring access to vital resources for those in need.

Here in Shoreline, we're taking action to support individuals experiencing mental health impacts. We provide funding to the Center for Human Services Behavioral Health Program, which offers services on a sliding fee scale, ensuring accessibility for all. Additionally, our COVID Response Funding is facilitating additional mental health services through Charmd Behavioral Health, further extending our support to those who need it most.

The proclamation was accepted by Christina Yiatchos, Mental Health Therapist from the Center for Human Services. Christina plays a crucial role in providing support through the City's Teen Center, making a positive impact on the lives of our youth and beyond.

Let's come together as a community to prioritize mental health, break down barriers, and foster a culture of understanding, compassion, and support.
