Honoring Our Founder, Pat Yager
Our company began with one powerful vision from our founder, Pat Yager: that every person deserves care rooted in dignity, respect, and culture. True well-being starts in the home and community that shapes a person’s daily life.
Pat started this mission with almost nothing. She ran the company out of the trunk of her car, traveling from place to place to understand what people truly needed. When someone asked for her business card, she wrote her phone number on a matchbook. From those humble beginnings, her vision grew into something far bigger: a commitment to “Honor and Serve” in every community we touch.
As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we look back on where our story began and the communities that helped shape our mission. Pat’s work started in Indian Country, and the strength and teachings of Native people helped build who we are today. Honoring Native heritage means honoring our foundation and the values that still guide us. Today, we honor our beginnings.
Tomorrow, we carry Pat’s vision forward, boundless, inclusive, and rooted in respect for all people.

Health begins at home and in the places where families come together, where elders are respected, and where culture is part of daily life. This idea is at the center of our work and guides how we support the community.

We were proud to continue our support by joining Native Rise, an event meant to lift up Indigenous families, culture, and voices. Fourteen of our team members took part

“Health comes from belonging, culture, safety, and the everyday support people have,” said Melonie Simon, Marketing and Events Coordinator for Circle of Life. “When we stand with the community at events like Native Rise, our impact reaches far beyond direct care.”

“We are thankful for the team members who truly care about this work,” Simon added. “Seeing our staff show up for Native Rise with such dedication reminds us why our mission matters and why being present in the community is just as important as the care we give each day.”

Research shows that formal services are only part of long-term well-being. Community connection, cultural identity, and stability form the base of strong health. By supporting Native Rise, we can help build that base so Indigenous families, caregivers, and elders have what they need to stay safe and to thrive.

At the heart of Circle of Life Home Care's mission is a simple truth: honoring those we serve. Today, that commitment took on even deeper meaning.
We are proud to be partnering with Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul’s Department of Indian Work by hosting a food drive at our corporate office. Interfaith brings together diverse faith and spiritual communities to create lasting change. During our visit to their “Super Shelf” food shelf today, we witnessed the impact of their work up close; an impact that is rooted in dignity, cultural respect, and community strength.
The Department of Indian Work provides far more than food. They offer health education, youth enrichment, economic mobility support, and emergency resources for American Indian families, meeting needs in ways that are culturally grounded and forward-focused. In 2024, their team distributed more than 342,000 pounds of culturally specific food, ensuring families have access to nourishment that reflects their traditions and identities.
Standing in that space today was a reminder that meaningful change happens when organizations come together with shared purpose. I am honored that we will be part of this mission in 2025.
