Hi friends,

I wanted to share a personal update with our Critical Grind community.

Earlier this week, I experienced a medical event called SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection). I am currently still in the hospital being monitored, and while my doctors are encouraged by my progress, recovery will take some time and intention.

First and most importantly: I am okay. I am in good hands, and I am incredibly grateful for the care I’m receiving.

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be stepping back to focus on healing. The cafe will continue running thanks to our incredible team. Shaun, Ash, Rudy, and the rest of the crew are more than capable, and I trust them completely. You may see me less in the day-to-day for a bit, but Critical Grind is still very much open and moving forward.

If you’ve been part of this community for any length of time, you know we believe in compassion for the customer, respect for the team, love for the game, and dedication to the business. Right now, I’m learning to extend that same compassion inward.

If you feel inclined, the best way to support me is simple: keep coming in. Play games. Order your favorite drink. Show the team some patience and kindness as they carry a little extra weight for a while.

Life is short. Play more games. And sometimes, rest more, too.

Thank you for being the kind of community that makes this place more than a coffee shop.
