The Timbers of Shorewood Senior Living is a rental retirement community that provides senior independent living and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. The Timbers of Shorewood began with the vision of two friends who wanted to create active retirement living in a community that would stand apart from others in both service and spirit. That vision and their experience of more than thirty years with senior communities served as the foundation in developing The Timbers of Shorewood, and exceptional senior community in an ideal setting. The Timbers put out the welcome mat in 2002 and became not only an affable (and affordable) home for seniors but a great resource to Shorewood and surrounding towns such as Plainfield, Minooka, Channahon and Joliet. The large scale ballroom is frequently alive with “the sound of music” at monthly ballroom dances for residents and the public. The Timbers, an industry leader, provides unsurpassed services, amenities and programs. The original vision continues to this day as The Timbers is still owned and operated by the same two men who created it. They remain involved and committed to excellence. Please welcome Avis H. to the Timbers family! Since moving in recently, Avis has brought such a warm and uplifting presence to our community. She’s shared how much she already loves living here, and it’s easy to see why — she’s made friends already and fits right in.

Avis is always wearing a smile and never misses a chance to stop by to say hi. Her kindness and warmth are felt by everyone around her.

With a master’s degree in theology and a background in education, Avis brings thoughtfulness into every conversation. It's a delight to have her as part of the Timbers community!

Our residents saddled up for a rootin' tootin' good time at our "Sunset Roundup" country-themed party! We kicked things off with some delicious chuck wagon country-style grub in the dining room, featuring BBQ rib tips, fried chicken, and all the fixin's.

The shindig then moseyed on down to the Timbers saloon for desserts, drinks, and some lively entertainment from the Silver Strings Band. They had us all boot-scootin' on the dance floor!

What an incredible season for the 2025 Timbers Wii Bowling League! We celebrated the end of our four-month league with a luncheon and awards! A huge congratulations to "The Funsters" for taking home First Place as a team, earning gold pins for their impressive 157.6 average!

And let's hear it for our individual champions:
• Audrey K. snagged the gold medal for First Place Individual with an amazing 187.3 average!
• Silver and bronze medals went to our second and third place individual bowlers.
• Special shout-out to Paulette E. for bowling the highest game of the season with an incredible 245!

What a blast we had with the "Spykidz" from Mission Bible Church in Minooka! For two straight days, our residents enjoyed activities with these energetic youngsters. We played games like bean bags and Pictionary on the patio. Another group helped with a fun summer craft using homemade puffy paint! It was truly special to see the intergenerational connections. The "Spykidz" are already looking forward to their next visit – and so are we!

Friday was an incredible day at the Treats & Treasures Summer Craft Fair at the Timbers! We're still buzzing from the fantastic turnout—those food truck lines were a testament to how many of you joined us! Our parking lot was packed, and the craft show was bustling with visitors.

Best of all, thanks to your amazing support, we raised an incredible $1,530 for Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter. We couldn't have done it without our wonderful community.

We're so proud of our 22 residents who recently graduated from the Timbers' Academy for Seniors! 🎓 They completed a 24-week course titled, "Medical Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths," gaining valuable critical thinking skills to navigate health information. It was inspiring to see their dedication and eagerness to learn each week. The Timbers' Academy for Seniors is all about continuous learning, keeping minds sharp, and building camaraderie. We had such a heartwarming weekend at The Timbers! Our wonderful resident, Clara Sweet, celebrated her 87th birthday on Saturday! Her thoughtful family surprised everyone by bringing party hats for the entire restaurant, turning dinner into an impromptu birthday bash! We had a beautiful Mother's Day celebration at the Timbers! ❤️ Our "Paint with Mom" event was a wonderful success, with more than 40 residents and family members creating keepsake flowerpots and lasting memories together. There were lots of laughs, great conversations, and tasty refreshments shared. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate and Happy Mother's Day!
