Furnished apartments are also available for short-term stays. Timbers’ events and activities draw people of all ages.

The Timbers of Shorewood Senior Living is a rental retirement community that provides senior independent living and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. The Timbers of Shorewood began with the vision of two friends who wanted to create active retirement living in a community that would stand apart from others in both service and spirit. That vision and their experience of more than thirty years with senior communities served as the foundation in developing The Timbers of Shorewood, and exceptional senior community in an ideal setting. The Timbers put out the welcome mat in 2002 and became not only an affable (and affordable) home for seniors but a great resource to Shorewood and surrounding towns such as Plainfield, Minooka, Channahon and Joliet. The large scale ballroom is frequently alive with “the sound of music” at monthly ballroom dances for residents and the public. The Timbers, an industry leader, provides unsurpassed services, amenities and programs. The original vision continues to this day as The Timbers is still owned and operated by the same two men who created it. They remain involved and committed to excellence. Their strong support to the management staff ensures that The Timbers continues its legacy of distinction.

We had an amazing time at our Valentine’s Dinner, celebrating friendship, love, and community here at The Timbers. This February, we are focused on supporting Shorewood HUGS! We’ve been busy selling chocolate flowers and adorable teddy bear grams. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Stay tuned for the big fundraising reveal at the end of the month!

While everyone else was celebrating Valentine’s Day on 2/14, we were celebrating something even more legendary: Eleanor’s 107th Birthday! The Timbers was a full of family, friends, and staff. We celebrated with her favorite chocolate cake, a confetti cannon, balloons, and flowers! Happy 107th, Eleanor!

The game might have been a bit of a snoozer, but the energy at the Timbers Touchdown Party was anything but! Between the delicious snacks and the fun of Commercial Bingo, the room was full of cheers. A huge congrats to our bingo winners who walked away with some extra sweet treats! There’s nothing like sharing a few laughs (and some wings) with great friends at the Timbers!

We loved welcoming WriteOn Joliet back to the Timbers of Shorewood for an afternoon of storytelling and book signings. Our Book Club is officially stocked with new anthologies thanks to some very generous community donations! Angie Aegerter, owner of Harvest Deli by Fit Foundation in Crest Hill, donated funds for 30 copies of the 2025 anthology. Members of B.L.O.C.K.S. – the umbrella group for the BryonySeries books – donated funds for 30 copies of WriteOn Joliet’s 2024 anthology. The Timbers of Shorewood is transforming into a festive holiday hub tomorrow, Saturday, December 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for our all-new Santa's Stop & Shop! FREE Photos with Santa Claus, Mini Holiday Market featuring 20 local vendors, Los Razos Taco Truck will be on-site serving up savory tacos and Mexican cuisine.
