Summit Physical Therapy was proud to sponsor this year’s Revolutionary Ramble, and we’re so impressed by all the riders who showed up, powered through the weather, and made it a great day on the road!

Between the scenic routes, the awesome support crews, and a well-earned BBQ lunch at the finish, it was still a ride to remember. Best of all? The event helped raise $25,000 for local causes like the Boys & Girls Club and Volunteer First Aid Squads. 🙌

Huge thanks to everyone who braved the rain and made it happen!

Ever wonder why some areas of your body feel tight or sore even after rest? It might be due to restricted soft tissues!

Soft tissue mobilization is a powerful technique used to improve mobility and reduce pain. It involves hands-on methods to manipulate muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments, promoting healing and function. Here are some key benefits:

💪 Reduces muscle tension and pain
💪 Improves range of motion and flexibility
💪 Enhances blood flow and reduces inflammation
💪 Breaks down scar tissue for faster healing
💪 Restores normal tissue function

This technique is especially helpful for conditions like back pain and sports injuries, allowing you to regain strength and mobility.

Whether you're recovering from an injury or managing chronic pain, soft tissue mobilization can be a valuable part of your treatment plan. Give our office a call or contact us here to learn more: https://www.summitpt-nj.com/contact-us

Struggling with plantar fasciitis or heel pain? Whether it is running, jumping, or even walking with shoes that aren’t treating you right, many people experience heel pain or symptoms related to plantar fasciitis. Here are five exercises you can try to ease your pain and get back to the things you love:

1- Calf stretch
PRO TIP: Keep your hips square and back tall to feel the most of this stretch. Hold for anywhere from 10-30 seconds at a time.
Example volume: 1 set of 10 repetitions, 10 second hold

2- Kneeling Ankle Mobility
PRO TIP: Move your foot as far back as you can without letting your heel come off the ground. Make sure your knee directs straight forward instead of inward or outward.

3- Doming
Poor foot positioning can contribute to unwanted stress on the foot and heel. Building the muscles that support your arch can improve foot positioning and support your ability to stand and walk.
PRO TIP: Think about dragging your toes backward vs curling your toes. Once you have success in sitting, try in standing, and even standing on one foot!

4- Eccentric Calf Raises
Did you know your plantar fascia is essentially an extension of your calf? Our body is connected in so many amazing ways, and this is one of them. Stronger and longer calves will allow for less stress on the plantar fascia and reduced pain over time. Option to progress to single leg if you can achieve full heel height with both.

5- Soleus Raise
PRO TIP: If you don’t have access to a knee extension machine, you can place a dumbbell or kettlebell on your thigh instead.

Use these tips to reduce your heel pain, get more mobility and strength, and return to all the active things you love!
